Conclusion to the worst sports week ever: Michigan Hockey

Submitted by Seth9 on
Michigan loses to Alaska 2-0, ending a seven day stretch including a loss to MSU, the Tigers blowing the division by losing a series to Chicago and falling in a heartbreaker to the Twins, and the Wings losing Franzen for four months in their first win of the season (coming off being swept by St. Louis). On the bright side, Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize...

The Nobel debacle was a positive for you? Or is my sarcasm meter broken? So does the week technically end tomorrow, since it started last saturday? It doesn't have to be great, just less bad than last week...

1. The week started last Saturday at noon. There are no more games between now and then. 2. If our president is winning the Nobel prize, it's a good thing for the country, regardless of whether he deserved it or not (and quite honestly, he didn't) because it boosts his international prestige, which is beneficial to our international interests and image. Furthermore, he's no less deserving than Al Gore, who won it for his environmental crusade. If you are annoyed that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize when he probably didn't deserve it, I can sympathize with your view. However, if you are annoyed because you oppose Obama's policies or are one of the Republicans rooting for him to fail, then you are an asshole. Just because you don't like the president doesn't mean that you hope he fails so that he doesn't get re-elected. I didn't like Bush, but I hoped that he could win in Iraq and better the economy because I care more about the well-being of the country than I do about pushing any political agenda.

He won the award based on promises and the fact that people (worldwide) have bought into his message of hope. But really, Rich Rodriguez has delivered more hope for me in the last year. I think Rodriguez deserved it!

I was at the game tonight-- Michigan dominated in every area except the one that counts. We outshot them 23-12 (I think it was something like 10-3 in the 1st period). Michigan's problem was that their shots were not challenging the goalie. I think I could have made most of the saves-- we were shooting point blank shots into the chest of UAF goalie. Disappointing for this Michigan homer in Alaska.

i think were all on the same page when it comes to sports and moods. Good god its be an absolute depressing week simply because of sports. There has been like zero positive news. Wings won but that follows up with Franzen being out for at lease 4 months. Just when maybe there was a glimmer of hope the sports god struck down with great avengence. Hey, at lease were not living in a third world country squandering for food. they have it much worst. Go Blue!

under Leland is a surprise? Even the year they went to the WS they stunk up the place in the second half of the season. They just didn't have a big enough lead at the break this year.

The hockey team had this problem several times last year. They'd play inferior teams and if they couldnt score early they'd start grip the sticks too tight and never break through. I guess that's just hockey though. I hate losing the opener. It seemed like a bad idea to open the season in Alaska. It's a tough roadtrip and really difficult to get a sweep. I hope they can bounce back tonight. The nanooks were supposed to be the weaker of the two Alaskan teams.

At least we weren't Notre Dame dropping a 3-2 decision to Alabama-Huntsville. I know there are a lot of factors going into the decision to not admit them, but this could make their case stronger.

I'm still not over that Tigers loss. Makes me sick the way they peed away the division. It was a great game though. All the other bad Michigan sporting results happen, just happened to be all in the same week this time. But that Tigers loss is something I'll remember forever.
