Concert at Crisler - pick em.

Submitted by scanner blue on

In the planning stages for Friday April 14 is a concert at Crisler. This is the night before the spring open practice so think "Harbaugh experience". Who will the headliner be? We've had DJ Khaled, Big Sean, Migos, Josh Groban impersonators before so I'm guessing something in a different vein and going with Keifer Sutherland. He's famous, untalented, played the Ark and then the Folk Festival at Hill, so he's ripe for the horrible acoustics at Crisler.

Oh, clearly the Rutles, if indeed Eric Idle and Neil Innes are still up to it. "All You Need Is Cash", which is the sort of thing that made "This Is Spinal Tap" possible, would be a great thing to have at Crisler.

Nice show once they got going, but they had some hiccups in their special effects theatrics that delayed the start for well over an hour.

If all you're looking for in a band is volume, Crisler is an OK venue, but for a full musical experience it pretty much sucks from an acoustical standpoint.

Pretty sure I was at the last concert to be held at Crisler, Bob Dylan back in 2002. IIRC, it was either the day or the day after the banners were taken down. Great show, but only about 2/3 full. After that, Athletics stopped booking it for shows.

The last whiff of a concert I can recall was in 2004 when one of the Vote for Change tour stops was supposed to be there (REM/Springsteen/Bright Eyes, IIRC), but the Springsteen camp balked when they figured out his full, gigantic lighting rig wouldn't fit through the doors and down the tunnel, so it got moved to Cobo Arena. This is one of the things the renovation fixed.
