Completely OT:Favorite Apps??
Having upgraded to droid x from blackberry storm a few months ago, the world of apps has really impacted the way I utilize my phone.
Some of the best I have come across so far are: evernote, trapster, fxCamera, pubmed, golfcards gps, chess, and ofcourse following tomVH on twitter.
Was wondering the best others have come across??

Angry Birds, Stupid Zombie, Task Manager, Note Everything, ESPN Scorecenter, BeerCloud, Doodle Bowling. These are the ones I use the most often and all are free, IIRC.

Pandora, angry birds, lightning bug (it's a sleep app, plays the sound of rain all night, it's awesome if you like sleeping to the sound of rain), i dl an app called nesoid where you can play old nintendo games. (You just have to dl a rom and emulator on your phone. Its easy once you do it a few times. Youtube will show you how to do it). You need a task manager to help save your battery life, and ESPN scorecenter. These are all free if you get the lite version.

I have an Iphone but my buddy showed me the SNES emulator he had on his Droid. The fact that I could be playing Battletoads vs. Double Dragon is enough for me to make the switch to the Droid.

Ya its sweet. I play tecmo bowl and super mario bros 3 everyday haha. Its so clutch during night class. Makes it go by so much faster. Im surprised the iphone doesnt have that feature.

It's complicated to explain. First go to the market place and dl NESOID or you can get one for super nintendo, sega, and gameboy. You will need to dl a file manager, which is also in the market place. I dl linda file manager. Then, I remember going to doperoms.com and thats where u get the games at. I cant remember exactly how it transfers on the phone. I did this last yr. Try searching on youtube. Here's 1 link I found. Hope it helps.

Sleep As An Droid was the first app I ever paid for. $1.36 and it tracks your sleeping cycles and wakes you up at your lightest sleep within a specified window.

How does that actually work? Do you have to roll around with it or something? Is there some add-on you have to buy that puts things on your head? I've seen people post their cycles on FB but it sounds a little absurd.

I'm going to sound like the nerdiest person on here when I say this, but there's a Monopoly app that has me hooked. I got it as a trial when I bought my MyTouch 4G, and had to buy it because it's really god damned addicting.

Really? What difficulty do you have it set to?
1 means the dice roll for you more often than not, 2 is even odds, 3 is the dice roll against you more often than not.

Apps I use frequently:
- Yelp (free) - find places to eat, gas stations, banks, etc. Great way to find something you need or a place to go no matter where you are.
- Google Voice (free) - it transcribes your voicemails into email-type messages so you can check your voicemail at work (or somewhere loud) without having to be "on" your phone.
- Checkbook (free, or not if you want additional functionality) - a great way to keep track of your finances.
- Kindle (free) - books, right on your phone. Works great and there is a good selection.
- Google Navigation (free) - I don't remember if this one is standard or not. You won't need a separate GPS anymore.
- Weatherbug (free) - gives you weather info in your status bar
- Alchemy (free) - fun and challenging game.
- ChompSMS (free) - replaces the text messages - it has a pop-up feature that allows you to quickly answer texts without having to exit the app you're using)
- Dolphin HD (free) - internet browser. personally I like it better than the basic browser)
- Google goggles (free) - take pictures and it searches for info on what you're looking at - can identify landmarks, etc.)
- My Tracks by Google (free) - useful for runners or bikers - tracks your trip and gives you time, speed, elevation change, etc. using GPS)
- Where's My Droid (free i think) - helps you find your phone if lost - have someone text "where's my droid" to you and it turns on the volume all the way up and rings until you find it (or for 30 sec)
For additional games I recommend Angry Birds, X Construct, and Slice It.
Enjoy your Droid X, I've had mine since August and I love it.

BatteryLife - gives you the % charged on your battery
OverDrive - for checking out ebooks from the local library
The Weather Channel
TuneIn Radio - lets you listen to streaming feeds of radio stations all over the world. Can use this to listen to WTKA or other Detroit radio stations in your car.
The Detroit News
Google Sky Map - not very useful, but definitely fun. Lets you hold your phone up to the sky and it shows you the constellations, planets, galaxies that you are looking at. Very neat.
Best Buy
Amazon Kindle - there are lots of free Kindle books (classic titles).
ShopSavy - lets you scan the barcode of any item and you will get a list of prices at local and online stores
RemoteDroid - turn your phone into a touchpad and keyboard for remote controlling your computer. Not bad if you have an HTPC hooked up to your TV and you want to control it.
Realtor.com - great tool for seeing the home prices where ever you are, or create your own search.
Amazon MP3 - tool to buy and download MP3's to your phone. Beware, however, you can only download each MP3 from Amazon once (there is no history), so back them up from your phone to your PC.

LauncherPro is an awesome home screen replacement app that you can use without rooting your droid.
I use TweetDeck for Facebook and Twitter feeds, it has a few different widget options which is nice.
Weatherbug Elite is (was) the best weather app in my opinion, but I think the Weather Channel one is catching up (also it's free and probably has a better widget).
Google Reader for RSS feeds, good widget that autoscrolls through headlines.
Vignette if you take pictures more than "rarely," has a demo but it's worth the $4 for the full version if you like it.
Winamp has a good widget. ESPN ScoreCenter of course. Can you tell I love widgets?

I find Tweetdeck to be the best for combining all your social networking streams (Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, etc, all in the same combined, clear feed). Also, I just downloaded Tune In Radio as suggested by S FL Wolverine above - awesome!!! +1

Yes. Tweetdeck is where it's at. For me, it combines Twitter and Facebook and saves a TON of memory. I just dl it the other day. Really is cool. Freed up a ton of room, saved some battery life. I def suggest dl it.

One of the stations I like to listen to in the car is BBC Radio 7. It's all entertainment programing (no news or sports), made up of mostly dramatized books and stuff. Kills time while commuting.
