Julius Peppers is 6'7" / 6'8".
I doubt it's Treadwell. I think we lead for him, but he loves the recruiting process and just announced a top 7, so I doubt he commits that quickly afterwards.
McDowell makes sense, and if I had to bet I'd say him. But I also thinka dark horse commit guy could be Joe Mathis. He's the type of guy who would commit on a random impulse, and Dawson was recently tweeting him saying "just commit."
This commit will probably be more of a WLS. Smaller, but better mobility and coverage skills
Kenton Gibbs, but I think that train sailed with Hurst & Poggi
EDIT: oops, 2014. Could be.
Gibbs is 2013
I'm getting the feeling that this tweet by Dawson was a joke.
If you have been following Leon McQuay's recruiting you would know he wants to become a producer/beatmaker.
Ive messaged him on Twitter about coming to Michigan to win a championship and to become a better producer and he seems very interested. A lot more then i think people realize. I told him i would help him out and he responded back saying, "Do you go to Michigan?" Unfortunetly, i dont :( but i told him i could help him get his stuff marketed out to a wider audience.
If you dont believe me check his Twitter page. I think McQuay could very well end up at Michigan.
And ive been a reader of MGoBlog for a long ass time but was never tempted on making a profile until now. And BTW this is the best college football blog on the net lol.
to the coaches.
and don't forget our #1 recruiter, Shane Morris...
me saying that he enjoyed my music and even game me a S/O so that's what i replied back saying. He knows im also a producer and a fan not some recruiter.
I've read the NCAA rules on the subject, and I'm a professional lawyer person, so you can trust me on this: you need to not do this.
You're free to message him, but please don't ever mention Michigana again. That's a recruiting violation.
Don't. Please. Stop. Don't do this.
You might think you're helping us with McQuay, but the more you talk to him, the more creepy it gets. So stop please. Also, if he does decide to come here, that's a recruiting violation.
So please, I'm begging of you... stop.
Argh...
Many of you know, I work in college athletics administration --- and this is why we all say Twitter is the devil.
It's also why I think it's creepy to "friend" recruits on Facebook or Twitter.
I'm not going to go on my usual rant and get negged to -100. I'll just say that this happens WAY more than most of you realize. And this is pretty innoccent all things considered.
We've had fans acting as representative to the coaching staff or athletics department. Then you also have fans who want "the scoop" for the blogs and they stalk these prospects and literally interview them through Facebook messaging and then post the interview. It's crazy.
You'll never be able to stop it, but this is why I just wish people would let recruits and prospects enjoy HIGH SCHOOL and at least not follow/friend them until they're in college.
Just last month I had an assistant football coach tell me that he had to talk some kid (recruit) off the ledge (from removing the team from his "top 3") because some idiot was trying to recruit him via facebook and he was bad mouth other teams. The kid thought that all of the fans at that school were negative and mean spirited like this one guy.
We actually had someone outside of the football program contact the man and ask why what he was doing and why he was doing it and his response was "I just wanted to help, and besides, when he committed, I wanted to tell my friends that it was me that got him (here)."
True story.
So much for not going on a rant...
Is there any type of policy that your school has (no idea what school) regarding crazy fans and recruits?
Stop messaging him.
Yo don't be a creep...we don't want him to get creeped out by people like you messaging him.
posed as an Ohio State fan and offered recruits lots of free things if they came to OSU. One of them was named Terry or Terrelle or some crap like that. Never did find out what happened to all those guys. Oh well, if something big came of it, I'm sure it would have been in the news or something.
You must be new here...
However, I checked out your beats, you should look into a collaboration with the lyrical master, David Cone
If any of you guys read the comment he said that mcquay messaged him first about his music and being a producer. If he messaged him back and mentioned michigan than it was not that big of a deal. You guys are freaking out about it and I'm pretty sure it is not a recruiting violation because if it was every person other than a recruiter/coach that talked to a kid would be a violation and guys would be able to talk to a guy about a school they arent even a fan of to get a rival school of the school they actually like
"If you come to Michigan, I can help get your music career off the ground."
Quid. Quo. Quit it.
I'm pretty sure it is a violation, but there is no way to regulate twitter right now.
Also I think the OP posting here thinking we would give him props. I don't think it turned out the way he wanted it to.
The NCAA did not allow schools to provide cream cheese for bagels that the schools supplied to student athletes, pretty sure this might be a bigger deal than that.
We can all stop freaking out now. Losher said he's "pretty sure" it's not a recruiting violation.
...and I don't feel so bad about sending that fire extinguisher to LTT.
well considering I play college football I can say for a fact that it isnt a violation. there is nothing in the ncaa handbook about fans trying to talk recruits into going to a school. now if this guy is offering him free services to get his musical career started when he would normally charge other people for the same services then that would be a violation. Responding to a message sent to you by a recruit as of now is not a violation
Fans are not allowed to contact recruits, in any way that would promote a specific university. By contacting a recruit you immediately become a booster, and once you are a booster than you are not allowed to contact an unsigned recruit and trying to convince them to come to a University.
Raoul did a good job outlining these rules in an earlier board post which is worth a read (link here)
Luckily no one can neg that smile.
do you honestly think responding to these random people who say they can help you is a good idea? Avoid that shit. Always.
so here is a picture of a funny old guy
It's official: McDowell has committed to Michigan, per my hopes and dreams
I respect the source, so I now believe he has committed.
and THE PARTY ROOM
the Waterboy.
Wouldn't Shane Morris also be a recruiting violation then?
