I guarantee that he's committing to Michigan. All the experts are predicting Michigan. It would be shocking if he doesn't.

I just chatted with one of my closest friends who is a crazed Auburn fan, and he said that he doesn't even want Derrick, because they have running backs coming out of holes they didn't even know they had... Not sure about that but I hope he commits to Michigan! Instant starting time as freshman! I also liked how he tweeted that he was deciding for he next 3-4 years. Love the confidence there! Go blue!

Green  referenced "shock the world."

Shock = "Ole Sparky."

"Ole Sparky" is a reference to death by electric chair.

Tennessee and Alabama have the death penalty; Michigan does not.

TN:

Lethal injection for crimes after December 31, 1998; others may select electrocution.

AL:

Choice of Injection or Electrocution.

It is post 12/31/98.

Green will commit to Auburn.

Unless he meant NCAA death penalty. In which case, he's going to SMU.

I love it when a 17 year old says he'd going to "shock the world'.  I've got news for him - picking his college - whichever one he chooses - will NOT shock the world in the least.

If he really wants to "shock the world" do something that 17 year old's never, ever do.  Like returning his parents car with gas in it after he takes it out or making his bed without his mom yelling at him.  Now THAT would shock the word.

Or cure cancer....that one's still out there for the taking.  Nobody's expecting a 17 year to do that.

shock the world = 3 vowels in total.

"Green" starts with the letter G. Same first letter of the name Gabe.

Derrick Green is Gabe Newell.

"Shock the world" = Half Life 3 Confirmed

There are certain times when you just have to trust your gut and read a kids body language and mannerisms. Green looks like a Michigan back to me. He carries himself like a Michigan man and just gives me the feel of a B1G back. He could shock us all and commit elsewhere but it would be against a metric ton of sense and conventional thinking. Logic and the past two months says he will be a Wolverine. That being said logic doesn't always prevail in college football recruiting.

Do we get muppets if he commits? I know it's probably jumping the gun for muppets since he's still in high school...buuuuut damn it'll be nice to have someone who can break a tackle not named Denard.

that he knew where he was going at the all american game, and now reading a rivals article he said he's 80-90% sure where hes going. I felt like at the ua game he was solid blue, down to taking pics with the team, now I don't feel as confident.

Calm down. He's blue. Did anyone not see what Green retweeted a few posts below? It was a Blockhams cartoon of him selecting a Michigan hat with the quote,"the best decision you will ever make." Some good with the Internets can link it if they so please. Go Blue!

Both of them have claimed a 4.5-ish time in the forty.  In my opinion, both are pretty equally slow.  If they break long runs, it will be because of broken tackles, not because they're outrunning anyone.

Panthers5 will probably pop out of the woodwork and start another argument, but here's the deal with the competition:

Green faced better athletes on a regular basis.

Smith faced teams with better records.

If you watch Smith's highlights, you will see a steady stream of him being chased down and cutting back against 5'7", 145 lb. white kids.  And don't get me wrong - the highlights are impressive, and he put up good numbers.  But the athletes Smith played against aren't the same caliber as they are in the Richmond area.

I watched his film, but never saw "a steady stream of him getting chaced down."  Maybe you can point those out. Unless you're counting the plays where he breaks several tackles. You normally don't hit top speed when you have two guys hanging onto you for dear life, even if those guys are 145 pounds.

Thanks for telling me how football works.

Regardless, we're just going to have to agree to disagree.  I think Smith lacks speed, and there are a lot of people who agree with me, including:

Scout

ESPN

and Josh Helmholdt from Rivals, who has said that Smith's lack of a 4th star is largely because he lacks breakaway speed.
