He is giving up football and entering a monastery where he will spend the remainder of his life in reflective silence and prayer.

If he decides not to shock the world and keeps playing football, I hope he picks Michigan, but it seems like we miss out on so many of the high profile recruits who wait until the last minute.

Especially when it gets drawn out. We haven't had the best success when it comes to near-signing day hat draws in the last few seasons (Jordan Diamond, Josh Garnett, kind of Laquon, that other OL who went to Auburn, etc). Even if Shane Morris retweets every one of Derrick's tweets this whole week, I will still be skeptical

This tweet by Auburn 2013 QB commit Jeremy Johnson yesterday, I think has ominous implications about Green's choice.   Weve known for a while that his parents were big influences in this decesion and may have wanted him to stay closer to home in the south.

Green and Johnson seem to have a good friendship going (at least via twitter) and im worried he may have shared some news a little early with Johnson.   I hope Im wrong!

here's the tweet:

but I'd be slightly more surprised if he chooses Michigan than if he goes elsewhere. And I wouldn't be shocked if the elsewhere is some place other than TN or AU.

If he ends up declining the opportunity to earn a degree from the University of Michigan, I'm not losing a moment of sleep over it.

Classic Michigan fan pessimism.  You must look to us Lions fans for tips on how to deal with the limitless disappointments of recruiting.  The key is not to set your expectations low, but rather to let them soar to unrivaled heights, so that when disappointment comes the freefall becomes a sweet release, a respite providing you energy to form your biased expectations again.  You must bask in your disappoitment.  Embrace it like an old friend.  Only then will you escape the fear of failure, and have the courage to climb again.  I have been to the mountaintop, for I have seen 0-16, and now I do not fear the hats.
