Columbus sports radio showing its Michigan Hate

Submitted by randyfloyd on

I was listening to 97.1 "the fan", here in cbus, at lunch today and they continually were bashing Michigan. It seems that Hoke (and now Beilein) has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

What they (mainly Bobby Carpenter) were discussing was what they called the "blarge" (charge that was actually a block) that won the game over Syracuse and how the best scenario for the "Buckeye Nation" would be a Michigan loss tonight and Mitch McGary being forced to go pro "because you can't turn down being a lottery pick". They were also discussing thier big recruiting weekend and that they hosted two Cass Tech guys (Weber and Alibi) and that they REALLY like the buckeyes and are teamates of future buckeye Damon Webb, so buckeye fans should keep a close eye on them.

Needless to say, I kind of lost my appetite but it was my fault, I should have known better that to listen to that station today, of all days.

subtitled: "I am 28 and this is the most exciting thing to happen to me since I've been a Michigan fan, and I have 70  or so more years to give a poop or two about other teams, but today everyone else can just fuck off" (GO BLUE)

Michigan is playing for the national championship tonight. I give zero shits about Ohio radio today. I give zero shits about Ohio radio all days, actually.

Did they say anything about us taking a commanding lead for one of the best players in the nation (Peppers) or how underwhelming his interview was about the OSU visit?

Even with all of their wins in both sports over the past decade, it's obvious that they still have an inferiority complex. They just can't handle the fact that M is in the title game tonight.

Over/under on how many couches are burned in Columbus if M wins the title?

in their fanbase.  Instead of hoping for the Big Ten to do as well as possible (which enhances their program as well), they want Michigan to lose.  Duh is all I have to say, plus GO BLUE!!

Eh...I don't cheer for Ohio to win if they're in the title game. I just can't do it. The only time I want them to win a game is when it directly affects Michigan, not indirectly. Ohio's winning a title raises a banner for them, not Michigan. We don't get a banner that says, "BEST CONFERENCE - BIG TEN." I rely on Michigan's winning to represent the conference, not others...especially Ohio. Fuck them.

When folks worry that much about what "you" are doing...they are spending less time focused on improving themself...GO BLUE, BIG GAME TONIGHT.

They have to broadcast the game tonight.  That's right... the HOME of the Buckeyes are contractually tied to airing the MICHIGAN National Championship game tonight.  I'll be watching it, like everyone else.  But love that it will air on their station.

HAIL.

Those might not be a popular opinion but I wouldn't cry if we lost our Cass Tech pipeline. 3/4 of the guys we get from there never pan out. Having said that I don't think that's going to happen.

I left that station about the time Herbstriet left...  good riddence.

Go Blue!  This night, 1989 I watched the party from the roof of Ulrich's book store...  Hope there are some like-minded, and non-couch-burning students ready to party tonight!
