He's an amazing athlete, tackler, returner, blitzer, etc etc. However, his coverage game still needs some work.  I often see him chasing the guy he's covering one on one or playing off his man a bit too much. Other than that, he's a freak and the best player on the team.

This is NOT the place for anything other than slobbering over Jabrill. If you see a weakness, keep it to yourself! (kidding)

I confess to having  discussion on the office just this week where I posed the question:

"if it wasn't for all of the hype, would Peppers really stand out that much to you just watching the game?"

And followed that up with "He is the ALMOST player of 2016. (ala Norfleet?)"

And then he made 3 plays today that sold me on what the coaches had seen so much in practice.

1) Crushing tackle in the open field to deny Colorado on an outside run.

2) Bliitz/sack where he was shot out of a cannon.

3) Kick return to mid-field to provide great field position.

4) Punt return. Electric.

OK, so that's 4 plays. I had forgotten the kickoff return. For me, this was THE game where Jabrill made a statement.

My legs were like spaghetti when he ran that punt back. It's been so freaking long.

Martavious Odoms at Purdue in 2008 was the last actual punt return (excluding punt block returns).

Peppers has gotten so damn close in the past. He was due. What a game. A treasure, this man is.

Harbaugh gushed about him in the post game. talked about how important special teams was too. getting 14 points and all f Jabrill return yards to give the offense shirt fields.

He's playing his way into the upper half of the first round of the draft. He was all over the field today and took over the game.

I hope he stays until his senior year, but if he leaves, boy do I hope he comes to Tampa. Bucs defense is in dire need of playmakers.

I said this elsewhere (maybe even not even on this website, may have been a text) but Jabrill is the best player at UM since Woodson. Just as far as all around kicking ass

Peppers is an absolute freak. If he were to start at RB I don't think it's a stretch to say he'd put up numbers like McCaffrey (with a better O-line than ours). Even with our line I'd bet money that he would crack 1300 yards. I wasn't alive to see Tom Harmon, and getting a standing O in Ohio Stadium says something about his abilities but...I don't think there's ever been a better all-around athlete to suit up for the Maize n Blue. In baseball it's a 5 tool player, well Jabrill is a Swiss army knife. The man can do anything he's asked on a football field. However, I don't think Peppers is a better football player than Charles. Charles took away half the field. You literally couldn't throw to your best reciever all game if #2 was on him. He was a threat on offense and special teams and every team feared him the second he stepped onto the field. And he always showed up big in the biggest moments, starting with shutting down Terry Glenn his frosh year. So the bottom line for me is this: Peppers is a better overall athlete, but Charles is the better football player.

I don't think Woodson had as many big gainers on returns as Peppers has had at this point in their career. You have to remember that Peppers has only played just over a year of actual college football. He's in his 3rd game at a new position at the college level in a new defense. Judging by the way he gets through the line and meets his targets, he's catching on pretty quick with the angles and speed he needs. Hopefully by suckeyes game you'll see the far expanded progression and his feel for the position. Then you'll see a dude taking up a section of the field my good man.

It's hard for me to compare across eras/positions/number of games played. I feel more excitement on a Peppers O touch/screen murder whereas Woodson erased the #1 and was so clutch you forget the generally (just?) pretty good returns and receptions. Regardless, it is wonderful to have someone someone who inspires comparisons to the only modern D player to win the Heisman. I see both at the bleeding edge of the evolution of defensive football.

And really his pass coverage stems from him being so aggressive to shut down runs, screens, underneath stuff that he is late to read that he needs to get back. I'm sure in high school it didn't matter one bit because he was fast enough. Half a second faster recognition time saved one of those early touchdowns today.
