75%?  I really think in most circumstances he would have been fired, but I heard they just can't afford his buyout right now, which is also interesting considering I heard that well before the buyout Colorado had to pay the Big 12 to break out and join the Pac 10.

This is OSU's 2nd game next year.  They play @Miami next year.   So play Colorado a former Big 12 power on a downturn or Bowling Green or whatever chum hits the turf.   This is a good game for OSU...decent amount of name recognition against a down program the exact opposite of UConn a team with no national cache and they are actually pretty good.

We hate OSU but their scheduling has been admirable.  1 high profile home and home against the best of the best, usually a middling game like Navy or NC state that is at least watchable and then 2 shit cans.   That's better than 80-90% of the teams....I'd say Florida St and most of the Pac 10 do a better job at scheduling and that's it.

The ND series has stymied UM's schedule a little bit over the last 5 or 6 years, but we used to do 1 high profile home and home plus ND, but money has ruined that for the most part.

Hey, UM also scheduled Washington back in 2003.  Thy had a pulse, right?

But yeah, OSU is kicking UM's butt (and pretty much everybody else nationally) when it comes to scheduling big OOC games.  I will say with respect to Miami (YTM), that game may be trading higher because of the names involved and not as much the actual quality of the team.

UM has scheduled good home and homes with teams throughout the past 10-15 years on top of playing ND every year. There were series against  Washington, Oregon, UCLA and Colorado. We also played lower level BCS teams like Vandy. I don't like the proliferation of MAC-rifices and Baby Seal U's either, but I wouldn't say OSU is kicking our butt in the scheduling dept. I think we are in the top 25% of teams when it comes to competitive OOC schedules.

Actually, I think UM is doing OK (not great...) in scheduling OOC games. I would be really interested (but not interested enough to do it myself) in seeing a moving average of team OOC opponent records over the past decade. OSU wouldn't be the top (that's probably USC), but they would be pretty high up there (top 25 ish, best guess). I would put UM somewhere around 25, just hazarding a guess.

Look, OSU has done a good job of scheduling home-and-homes with top teams (USC, Texas, and Miami), but outside of those 6 games, they've played a whole lot of nobody OOC, and never in the last 10 years have they played 2 even decent OOC teams in the same season.  Their one tough game may be as good as any other OOC opponent, but they never had another OOC game that was even worth watching.

UM is not the top team in the country when it comes to OOC scheduling, but they've had ND on the schedule every year, and many years they've seen teams like Washington (when they were good), Oregon, and Utah on top of that.

Dan Hawkins seemed to be such an up and coming coach after his time in Boise.  His total failure at Colorado is sad.  I think its time for him to head to Intramurals brother.

OSU is setting up the national title run of all national title runs. Should be no question that they could be in the MNC with 1-2 losses. That's 2 BCS teams in Colorado and Miami (Toledo and Akron also on the docket).

I wish we had payed UCONN 1.4 million to be done with it and not have to travel to New England for the 2nd game.  I would be great to see our home and home games in future be against some big time schools.

Tony Clemons.

Fast forward, recap:

Although OSU pretty much manhandled Colorado, it was definately the coming out party for Toney Clemons. He sliced and diced the OSU defense for 15 catches, including a couple picks. He definately was handicapped by the Michigan offense, since he clearly is an all american type receiver. Had Michigan been able to see it, they simply would not have let him go. He is super fast, athletic, etc. In fact. his forty tiem went from like 4.70 at Michigan to 4.3! Just changing schoold literally did this!

Colorado is a fossil of a program.  Only when they were led by former UM assistant Bill McCartney were they a national power.  I'm not sure they'll ever recapture that brief glory.

As a CU alum, in lieu of not making bowl games with any regularity I look forward to the almost annual upsets (Oklahoma, Kansas, WVU) the Buffs have been pulling off. As a UM alum, I hope this is one of them.
