College Hoops - Follow the $ + Conference Changes
Good Morning All,
Came across this article which had what appears to be a good summary of the money in major college hoops, and also a listing of all the colleges changing conferences. I'll do my best to post the link here:
http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Sports/2014/07/30/follow-money-reali…
And a particularly telling chart from the article here:
Conference | Top Recruits | NBA/team | Profit | Profit |
---|---|---|---|---|
Big East | 1st | 5th | 1st | $154,122,296 |
Big Ten | 5th | 6th | 2nd | $138,054,933 |
ACC | 2nd | 2nd | 3rd | $133,479,911 |
SEC | 3rd | 3rd | 4th | $124,636,534 |
Big 12 | 6th | 4th | 5th | $105,706,308 |
Pac 12 | 4th | 1st | 6th | $80,129,005 |
The article does feature a certain picture of the Michigan v. Louisville championship game too.
If the link is too much copy/trademark issue, then please do delete.
Up early with the cows, quiverfull? This was an interesting piece but looking at the source for the data, www.statisticbrain.com, they list the above 'profit' figures as 'revenue'. Not sure if that is a reporting error or actual revenue and not profit. It's also not clear what they mean by Big East, how could the most recent version of the Big East generate that much revenue? The difficulty is finding the sources for what is reported on www.statisticbrain.com
both as to the cows (an everyday occurrence) and the article. maybe the big east revenue is from 2012?
I'm kind of surprised that the SEC and Pac 12 had more top recruits than the big 10.
