College Gameday/Early Games Open Thread
Eeee ... you're elevating Corso's schtick to the level of (say) marching bands? Sorry, again -- I just don't see it.
I agree on the NFL pregame shows, though. They're intolerable. NFL focus groups are probably more pitiful than ones for college football.

I wonder how many people watching even know who Mateen Cleaves is these days.
You know, Dude, I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in 'Nam of course.
What kind of uncreative ignorant asshead makes a sign reading "Against the Matzo"? Really?
Gus Johnson calling the OK St game on FX. I know which game I'm watching
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
I sent a crapton of tuition dollars to Madison, and so I generally root for Wisky when we're not playing them. I'm rooting for them especially fervently tonight to put a beatdown on the Juggalos in EL.
Seeing Sammy Watkins play is still depressing. Kid is the most exciting freshmen in the country.
Avatar is a reference to this. Go Blue!
why does Pam Ward always get Big Ten games?
903 wins most in college football
Beth Mowins has the noon ESPN2 game not Pam Ward. Internet commentators have a troubling inability to tell female voices apart.
Their voices sound really similar, but if you take literally one second to listen to the actual commentary, you will realize that Mowins actually adds value instead of demeaning players and exhibiting a glaring lack of knowledge.
Anyone catch Herbs pick the Tigers to pull it out today? ... referring to the Auburn TIGERS vs. LSU TIGERS game. Bold prediction Kirk. Unless it's a tie, he nailed it.
Or are just both mediocre and Illinois got a lot of breaks to start the year?
aren't you supposed to have a good defense?

could be a tough game next week if they're executing like this
I was just thinking the same thing. They are shredding Illinois and using plays Michigan has had some trouble with.
So which one is it: Purdue is playing out of their minds, or Illinois is playing "just turrible"??
I think that, like us, Illinois got a lot of hype because of a high ranking that probably wasn't truly deserved. Illinois is a team that was waiting to fire their coach at the beginning of the year. We're starting to see a bit more of the "true" Illinois team the last two weeks. That, said, Purdue looks like a surprisingly solid team that we cannot overlook next week.
are derping it up

Iowa is looking pretty weak against Indiana. Who'd have thought that Purdue would look like our toughest opponent over the next three weeks?
Wow, Purdue has dominated this game so far. 21-0.
Hail to the college whose colors we wear,
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!
Just random, every year. The Fightin' Heisenbergs.
Illinois experiencing inevitable regression to the Zook.
There's a lot of people at the Purdue game...
"Ohio is like a giant turd that Michigan just can't pinch off"
So given their last 3 (?) results (barely winning against WMU & NW, getting blown ou by Purdue), I think the Illinois game is looking like a 90% win. I'm still not sold on Purdue, I think their last two games have just been against 2 bad teams. That will be closer than we thought at the beginning of the year, but still a 85% win imo. So the fate of the division really lies with how Nebraska plays against UM and MSU. It could go either way.
COYS and lets go Detroit FC!
I don't think Illinois is all that great, but it will be a road game, and Champaign's another one of those wind-tunnel stadiums.
Hopefully Gholston was watching. That's the kind of hit that makes you look badass, not like a douchbag.
Hopefully the Illinois receiver is okay, obviously.
Go Blue!
It is sooo Illinois to be down 21-0 at halftime to Purdue.
"I tried to but a pencil in the light socket but it was too wide and didn't fit so I used a paperclip."-Terrelle Pryor, Future Rhodes Scholar
I LOLed as soon as they lined up to spike it with :01 on the clock. That is pure Zook.
Iowa is hard to figure out. Most of the year they've looked pretty good offensively, but then they went to PSU and scored 3 points.
Someone told me that the Indiana coach is a huge asshole who's pissed off that they're not winning and he's taking it out on his coaches and players right now.
903 wins most in college football
They have had a huge number of players quit the team since he's been hired.
Kiel may soon open up his recruiting again, which would be a massive loss to IU's prospects. I actually feel bad for the Hoosiers at this point - they haven't been relevant for decades now, and they get rid of a decent guy (if a little bit of a hothead) for a jerk who can't help pissing off everyone.

It's one of those unique things that makes college football awesome. Period. I'd take anything Gameday does above a sterile in-studio NFL pregame show with a bunch of well-coiffed washed-up coaches trying to find a way to make their Super Bowl rings flash just right for the cameras.
