College Gameday/Early Games Open Thread

Desmond on the Gholston incident(s):
I was actually embarrassed for Michigan State's football team, that program, and the school because there is no place for that. He is not representing that university well when he goes out there...you don't have to mar your performance by doing something so stupid! That was a punk move and he didn't need to do that.
They also all agreed that this and like incidents reflect poorly on the coach. They discussed how the coaches are more like friends than coaches to the players, that discipline is lacking, and that player's don't respect the coaches authority.

It's one of those unique things that makes college football awesome.  Period.  I'd take anything Gameday does above a sterile in-studio NFL pregame show with a bunch of well-coiffed washed-up coaches trying to find a way to make their Super Bowl rings flash just right for the cameras.

I sent a crapton of tuition dollars to Madison, and so I generally root for Wisky when we're not playing them. I'm rooting for them especially fervently tonight to put a beatdown on the Juggalos in EL.

Anyone catch Herbs pick the Tigers to pull it out today? ... referring to the Auburn TIGERS vs. LSU TIGERS game. Bold prediction Kirk. Unless it's a tie, he nailed it.

I think that, like us, Illinois got a lot of hype because of a high ranking that probably wasn't truly deserved. Illinois is a team that was waiting to fire their coach at the beginning of the year. We're starting to see a bit more of the "true" Illinois team the last two weeks. That, said, Purdue looks like a surprisingly solid team that we cannot overlook next week.

So given their last 3 (?) results (barely winning against WMU & NW, getting blown ou by Purdue), I think the Illinois game is looking like a 90% win. I'm still not sold on Purdue, I think their last two games have just been against 2 bad teams. That will be closer than we thought at the beginning of the year, but still a 85% win imo. So the fate of the division really lies with how Nebraska plays against UM and MSU. It could go either way.

Iowa is hard to figure out.  Most of the year they've looked pretty good offensively, but then they went to PSU and scored 3 points.

Kiel may soon open up his recruiting again, which would be a massive loss to IU's prospects.  I actually feel bad for the Hoosiers at this point - they haven't been relevant for decades now, and they get rid of a decent guy (if a little bit of a hothead) for a jerk who can't help pissing off everyone.
