College Gameday Open Thread

Live from Fort Worth. Discussion goes here. Also, a look at the interesting, televised games in the noon slot (other than our own). For a full television schedule, see AwfulAnnouncing's full guide.
  • Tennessee @ Mississippi (CBS)
  • Michigan State @ Purdue (ESPN)
  • Georgia Tech @ Duke (ESPN2)
  • Northwestern @ Illinois (ESPN Classic)
  • Texas @ Baylor (FSN)
  • Houston @ Central Florida (CBS College Sports)
  • Indiana @ Penn State (BTN)
Texas @ Baylor, Indiana @ Penn State, and GT @ Duke will probably be closer than they should for the first half, but the upset I'm looking for is Central Florida over Houston. No idea what to expect from Tennessee @ Mississippi.

"what's wrong with Michigan? Kirk, Lee and Desmond will examine the situation in Ann Arbor." Awesome. A sure to be misinformed feature that ignores facts and at the same time says to recruits "stay away."

can't wait till corso makes his pick and puts on a mascot head and then says NOTSOFAST and then fakes us all out and then i am like "whoa, i didn't see that coming!" until then, i will be very interested in some soft focus, human interest stories about one player who likes country music and another one that came from a poor neighborhood.

Herbie: The "Michigan Men", perhaps still disappointed that it isn't Les Miles, are looking for reasons to buy in, and the results thus far aren't giving them a lot of reasons. Desmond: Youth factor, too many Michigan players on the Michigan roster are either freshmen or sophomores by eligibility, and young guys don't give you depth if they're playing and the make mistakes. The MSU, Iowa, and Purdue losses are by a combined 10 points, they could easily be an 8-2 team with some breaks (Fowler points out they could also be a 3-7 team without some breaks. He's not wrong.) Corso: Michigan needs to go out and recruit some defensive players. It might be a place to start (I couldn't tell if Lee was being sarcastic, genuine, or that rare combination of both.)

I liked the ND feature, if for no other reason than see just how much everyone overreacted to him nearly beating USC, and for the fact that ND is 1-9 versus teams who finished in the top 25.

Wow. So far, it looks like Corso actually made a really good comment about the Miami-UNC game. If GT wins (they did) then Miami will lose (they are so far) because they'll be down after being eliminated from the division race.
