College Gameday headed to Eugene not East Lansing
College gameday will head to Eugene for the matchup between 9 Oregon and 22 Arizona State. A little bit surprising since MSU is a better team than ASU.

I lived in michigan and I always felt that ND was a fairly distant 3rd. but you guys don't have to tell with sparty clowns all stinkin year either

Too bad Bo's still not around to set you straight.

Looking at the schedule for that weekend (http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/12) these are the other games that have a chance of having 2 ranked teams:
Wisconsin vs Illinois
Oklahoma vs Baylor
Kansas State vs Texas
Out of these games, I think Wisconsin vs Illinois poses the biggest threat for Gameday. So when we play Illinois the week before, it might also be for Gameday.

NO way gameday goes to Illinois/Wisky over us and the Huskers if we or the husk don't start dropping games like crazy leading up to it.

They already came to A2 though for the ND game. Do they typically come to the same place 2 times in one season??

They do the same location twice sometimes. They also have the same teams more than once. In 1996 the Buckeyes were in the game of the week 3 weeks in a row.

This is Michigan, fergodsakes.

They'll be in Waco that weekend if Baylor's wheels don't come off before then.

There are really no good choices for gameday this week IMO.
Mich-MSU is big but regional. Plus they already went to a Michigan game.
Oregon-ASU also regional. Plus they did an Oregon game. I will be surprised if Oregon doesn't roll.
I think Texas-OK State or Florida-Auburn would have been decent choices if 3 of those teams hadn't lost last week.
And that's about it.
So all things considered, Oregon makes the most sense. Especially since that is a night game, allowing Herbstriet to avoid a plane ride after gameday.

I'm with everyone else, they'll never do Gameday in East Lansing again if they can help it.

If you were the Gameday guys, which of the two settings would you choose? Case

This goes very well with this year's theme of putting MSU back to irrelevance.
There's only one elite school in the state of Michigan, and that is in Ann Arbor.

Not that State was ever really a real option but this is still good news for us. No need to get the brahs even more jacked up for the game. Also another reason they probably avoided our game is they like to avoid noon games at all cost, it creates the logistical nightmare of having to move halfway through the show as we saw yesterday and the OSU game in '07

i never even considered them going to east lansing. Thanks Little Brother for being irrelevant.

Had MSU not looked so bad against ND and OSU, then they might have been able to make a case here. ASU-Oregon is a good game, but I would rather have seen them go to Wake Forest to cover their game against Virginia Tech. The Deamon Deacons are 3-0 in the ACC, and I do not think that Gameday has ever been there before.

LOL at people who care where the Home Depot crew goes.

I think its good for recruiting for Game Day to come to Ann Arbor once every year/every other year. It's somewhat of a two-hour commercial for UM beaming into the homes of potential recruits for free. It certainly can't hurt, at least.

Do you really think State is better than ASU?
October 9th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
East Lansiing is the asshole of Michigan maybe the US. Well its a close second to CBus ! Why would Game Day want to go there?
October 9th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
the 3:30 game. For some reason, the Suckeyes continue to draw prime TV slots. I guess everybody likes to see a train wreck.

Which shot would even begin the show?
"You are looking live at the Red Cedar Apartment Complex In East Lansing....."

I bet they'd reflect on historical footage:

What makes you say Sparty is better than ASU? They've played against two good defenses and were completely shut down. They've played against one good offense, and had the ball marched down the field on them.

I can't blame Gameday for picking Eugene, or most other cities, over East Lansing. I will be at Autzen representing Michigan like every Ducks home game.
Any other M fans heading to Eugene?

"Live from the tennis courts at East Lansing...it's college gameday!"
HA! There's nothing to see there, good choice going to Eugene.
