College Gameday to be at Evanston
According to Chris Fowler:

Samantha Ponder (Steele) confirmed it:

Northwestern will get their first College Gameday since 1996 when they went to the Rose Bowl. Should be a good game. OSU is coming off a tough win over Wisconsin. NW is well rested for the game.

Havn't seen Northwestern play this year. Do they got a shot to take down the buckeyes?
September 29th, 2013 at 12:36 AM ^
They're no joke. Should be a shootout.

Much better offense than Wisky's offense, and a not too shabby defense... Really Urban's toughest challenge to this point (other than us obviously). Plus, Ohio's first game away from the toilet seat... One that should be interesting till the finish.

Thanks for the catch... Hopefully it won't be a 50-50 between NW fans and OSU fans like it was with Cal a couple weeks ago

They're down against Oregon 55-10 at 3rd quarter.

because Cal is the toughest so far.

CARRY ON!
September 29th, 2013 at 6:36 AM ^
It's referring to distribution of fans in attendance (50 percent Cal, 50 percent Ohio).
September 29th, 2013 at 4:41 PM ^
I was there, it was easily more like 60/40 OSU fans over Cal. Shameful really, OSU dominated on the field and off the field - OSU fans were way louder, organized chants and what not. Hell the Cal fans were even in envy of the OSU band.
Cal is a poor football program at the moment I'd be suprised if they won 4 games this year.

I have a friend who's an OSU grad (yes, that actually happens IRL) who attended the game @ Cal.
He said it was practically a home game: loud Buckeye crowd was at least 40% of the stadium.

Shouldn't matter much. If Northwester beats us we won't win the division anyway. If we beat them it probably means we figured our shit out and should handle the rest of the division as well. I want Ohio to lose all their games. I'm so sick of hearing about them.

As much as I would love for Michigan to hand Urban his first two losses this season and make him 1-2 against Michigan as an Ohio coach, I just want to see Ohio lose after going 12-* last year.

I am going to root for what is in Michigan's beat interest and root for a northwestern loss. Guh.

Have to root for ohio to beat the rawrcats. we could use the half game a NW loss would provide.
September 29th, 2013 at 12:26 PM ^
I'm confident that we can beat NW when the time comes. I'm less confident that we can beat Ohio two weeks in a row, so I'd much rather have NW beat them and have Wisconsin win their division.

The prospect of a "Purple Rain" in Evanston would make GameDay interesting to say the least. I wonder then if the Ohio State band would wear their special "Raspberry Beret" in kind.
/terrible joke

They came here to play school, not football!

Remember the school is only roughly 7,500 students and due to trimester scheduling the first 2-3 home games are played before the students are back in class.
My first NU game as a student was the Big Ten opener. That year they played all 4 non-con games before the dorms even opened.
Once the kids are on campus though, nearly the entire school shows up for games and it's barely a 1/3 of M's student section.

Trimester scheduling is crazy. You guys need to get on the semester format like the other 95% of schools.

NW students are in complete support of the football team. The Atheltic Administration are finally supporting the team, and the alums are starting to come around. If he can stay at NW and keep winning, it won't be long before they see a consistent attendance for NW fans instead of playing at nearly empty stadium or stadium that has half of the visiting team fans.

I just bought my husband surprise tickets for his 50th birthday to go with my son. I can't wait for him to open the envelope - he wouldn't do this for himself in a million years, and he grew up a NW fan. Plus, he now hates Ohio State - a prerequisite for marrying me. I'm going to get them some purple gear to wear - those NW students need all the help they can get.
September 29th, 2013 at 10:01 AM ^
Very cool you grabbed those tickets. How did "Purple Pricing" work for you?
