Northwestern will get their first College Gameday since 1996 when they went to the Rose Bowl. Should be a good game. OSU is coming off a tough win over Wisconsin.  NW is well rested for the game.

Much better offense than Wisky's offense, and a not too shabby defense... Really Urban's toughest challenge to this point (other than us obviously). Plus, Ohio's first game away from the toilet seat... One that should be interesting till the finish.

I was there, it was easily more like 60/40 OSU fans over Cal. Shameful really, OSU dominated on the field and off the field - OSU fans were way louder, organized chants and what not. Hell the Cal fans were even in envy of the OSU band.

Cal is a poor football program at the moment I'd be suprised if they won 4 games this year.

And this is why we should never have been in the same division as Ohio. It sucks to have to choose between rooting in your best interest and rooting against your biggest rival. Happy they fixed this after this year.

I am going to root for what is in Michigan's beat interest and root for a northwestern loss. Guh.

Football has been a very big deal to NU students since at least 2000 when NU beat M 54-51.

Remember the school is only roughly 7,500 students and due to trimester scheduling the first 2-3 home games are played before the students are back in class.

My first NU game as a student was the Big Ten opener. That year they played all 4 non-con games before the dorms even opened.

Once the kids are on campus though, nearly the entire school shows up for games and it's barely a 1/3 of M's student section.

NW students are in complete support of the football team.  The Atheltic Administration are finally supporting the team, and the alums are starting to come around.  If he can stay at NW and keep winning, it won't be long before they see a consistent attendance for NW fans instead of playing at nearly empty stadium or stadium that has half of the visiting team fans.

I just bought my husband surprise tickets for his 50th birthday to go with my son. I can't wait for him to open the envelope - he wouldn't do this for himself in a million years, and he grew up a NW fan. Plus, he now hates Ohio State - a prerequisite for marrying me. I'm going to get them some purple gear to wear  - those NW students need all the help they can get.
