If not RGIII, I kinda hope Ball gets it, just because it would royally suck for Richardson to win it.

LSU's punter isn't nominated for the Ray Guy award?

"Desmond working it with Erin Andrews." Go Desmond! Im actually watching this instead of MNF.

Seahawks win 31-14...by the way, Ypsi Gypsie slinging it for Steelers tonight on TNF.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
I fail to understand what universe we live in if RGIII does not win the Heisman. He has had head and shoulders the best season of all of them. Ball should get second. Luck third. Matheiu fourth and Richardson fifth.
Griffin not winning will be a travesty.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:49 PM ^
I feel like the question is how you look at it from a voting stand point, Best player, Best season, or most valuable.. to be honest i think luck qualifies for 2 of the 3, RG3 definetly had the best season. it will be interesting to say the least.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:23 PM ^
No one votes for the "best player". If that were the standard then Jake Long would have been considered. They don't vote on talent. Unless I'm not understanding what you mean there.
Also, how is RGIII not more valuable than Luck? Do you honestly believe that Baylor's supporting cast is better or comparable to Stanford's?

Seems like a nice guy, but this is the man who created conference championships and BCS.
Sarcasm...sort of.

That was a nice segment with Roy Kramer.

Is Rimington on this broadcast?
December 8th, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
I would think so since it is 2 hours long, but who knows with ESPN.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
FWIW, They did announce and present it during the 8pm "red carpet" awards ceremony. He was all smiles, well deserved!
December 8th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
Rimington has its own trophy ceremony in January. Website even has a countdown clock to get you pumped up for it: http://rimingtontrophy.com/
December 8th, 2011 at 10:05 PM ^
Rimington not scheduled for this broadcast, but Walter Camp team is, and Molk on that. Also, the Home Depot (the power of) Coach of the Year to be announced. I'm guessing Les or Nick as it's espn+home depot.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:51 PM ^
ESPN please put him to pasture.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:54 PM ^
It's getting hard to watch him.

But they smoothed that over pretty easily...

Holtz first please
At least when Corso swears on air you can understand him
December 8th, 2011 at 10:07 PM ^
Desmond with the announcement. It was good to hear his name read specifically because some other players did not get that honor.

What is ESPN/Home Depot's special relationship with the SEC?
December 9th, 2011 at 5:37 AM ^
It's special alright. There are 2,250,000,000 reasons why ESPN slobbers the SEC's knob.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
Another case of SEC bias here. I think it is BS that Motee Ball didn't win the Doak Walker award.
Montee Ball has more yards, and TDs and better YPC and YPG.

I think you meant LaMichael James might ask "DuckFuck?"
December 8th, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
I guess RIchardson is derserving since he is probably going to be the first RB taken in the draft.

Wisconsin played against the #96, 99, 95, FCS, 66, 118, 18, 50, 88, 90, 41, 46, 18(again). The average ends up at 68.75.
Alabama played against the #33, 46, 73, 78, 39, 27, 110, 70, 5, 65, FCS, 97. The average ends up at 58.45.
Not a major difference. Ball ended up 135 yds/game at 6.4 yds/carry and 32 TD's. Richardson had 132 yds/game at 6.0 yds/carry and 20 TD's.
Alabama had 33 total rushing TD's on the year and 220 yds/game meaning Richardson was 60% of their scoring via rushing and 60% of their rushing per game.
Wisconsin had 46 rushing TD's on the year and 237 yds/game meaning Ball was 70% of their scoring via rushing and 57% of their rushing per game.
Conclusions to be made are that Richardson was slightly more important part of Alabama's rushing offense against slightly better competition overall while Ball was slightly less important to Wisconsin in terms of yardage per game but a lot more important to Wisconsin's rushing offense concerning scoring than Richardson was to Alabama.
In other words, their yardages are similar when laid out against the defenses they both faced, but Ball was much more of a scoring machine than Richardson was this year.
IMO, the award should have been Ball's due to the scoring difference.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
.....between the two against their only common opponent, PSU.
Richardson had 26 carries for 106 yds and 2 TD's and 4.2 yds/carry..
Ball had 25 carries for 156 yds and 4 TD's and 6.2 yds/carry.
Who's the better RB? Ball had 51% of Wisconsin's carries while Richardson had 63% of Alabama's carries.
The post below is exactly correct. This is nothing more than an ESPN/SEC lovefest and it's a travesty what has happened to the awards. Nothing more than a beauty pageant showcasing the top teams, not the top players.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
