Tie game in the final minute at Columbus!
Later, Wisconsin and Northwestern.
I have been waiting for this thread. Crazy game to this point. This should be penn st ball.
I think the refs saw that they missed a foul. The PSU player went across his arm. So, they reversed who it was off of.
How thee fuck is that Ohio ball?!!
What a joke!
Are either gutless cowards or are sooooooooooooo FUBR !!!!!!!!!!! no getting around it.
Ohio player touches the rim while ball is on the backboard, no goaltending call. Good times.
Basket interference. God awful refs.
How about no call for the goaltend? Just cost PSU the game.
My goodness...I can't help but watch these sports at times anymore and not think there's more than meets the eye ("Corruption", for those that didn't read between the lines). Conspiracy theory weirdo I know but damn.
Teams I've been rooting for this week have really sucked at late-game free throws.
Man PSU just got worked twice in a row by the refs.
sees the replay of that out of bounds, i hope he goes balistic on the refs in the post game
Go for a quick two and foul here, if you are the nitty lions.
Just like i said, quick three
Wow, penn state just getting hosed. Still a chance though.
Frazier with a major choke
PSU getting shafted hard by the refs late
That was a great play by PSU to tie it up.
Tied at 65 with 11 seconds left. OSU ball.
Glad to see Newbill lighting other teams up! Sorry to bring it up, but he played a great game in beating us last year. I'd say our March And April made up for that bad loss.
OSU hits the winner here, I'm sure. That's how it usually works for em.
I stand corrected.
NEVER want to see these fucked up fucking fuckers doing a UM road game.
Great play, DJ Newbill is a boss.
PSU still has a chance!
Holy Shit how did that Scott put-back Not go!
Does anyone know if basket inteference reviewable by replay in the final minutes or is that always judgement call?
If reversing that turnover is reviewable, basket interference sure as hell should be.
make a free throw.
We can make free throws.
Derrick Walton, Caris LeVert and Glen Robinson III.
who cares !!!!!! they would just rule for osu anway !!!
This would make my night.
But, boy, is Ohio struggling right now. This is starting to look less like a bad streak and more like a bad team.
Well the thing with the Big Ten is any team can beat you. It really is true though normally big upsets happen at home so really good for PSU to make this a game. Good and keep up the defense for the last three minutes or so. All right still a game but just drive it to the rim and finish.
I honestly like the way Penn St.'s offense has been playing over Ohio's. I'm inclined to take Penn St. for the upset!
Ohio State is average at best. I'm sure they'll play out of their minds against us, but they really don't have a lot going for them. They are stocked full of athletic guys that aren't really very skilled offensively.
Keep Craft out of the lane!
In the Big Ten.
Terrible, terrible foul by PSU right there.
WTF is Frazier doing?
Fouling a guy fading away for a 3...come on Frazier!
Don't literally put a hand in his face...
Penn State's offense is literally just...ugh
Nobody on Penn State's offense even moves until there's five seconds left on the shot clock...
omg omg omg omg
YES YES YES
NEWBILL CRUSHES THE JUMPER TO TAKE THE LEAD WITH 1 SECOND LEFT AHHHH.
NEWBILL CRUSHES THE JUMPER TO TAKE THE LEAD WITH 1 SECOND LEFT AHHHH.
Oh baby! PSU up by 1 w/ 2 seconds left
Ahhhhh over Craft!!!!
Sweet. go Penn State
Newbill you beast!! Craft just got owned
Nail it down Lions
2.2 I think.
Unless Evan Turner pops out of nowhere and nails a half court shot, this one is over.
What's up with that.
I love it.
That clock ran like 5 secs before buzzer sounded.
Catch, stop, change direction, mutiple dribbles all the way to the 3pt line, stop, bobble ... and then the horn sounds.
That's a long 1.9 secs or whatever.
Congrats to PSU. Great win.
I wonder if that guy who has the Buckeyes a three seed is going to reconsider.
HAHAHAHAHA .. what was Craft doing!? They even got some home cooking on that clock, and he still didn't get a shot off.
AND OHIO STILL SUCKS
What the heck was Craft thinking? Why'd he start his Curly Neal impersonation and dribble out the clock? Lol
LOL @ OSU basketball.
DJ Newbill though..
So can the voters NOW stop putting this bad Ohio team in the top 25? Sheesh.
At the 12 minute mark?
I found myself rooting for a different shade of blue. Great loss by Ohio.
The great Aaron Craft and Fail Ohio just got beat in Columbus by the unranked Penn State.
home cooking in Columbus...can someone please Explain that last 1.9 seconds?
Either they get this fixed, or they may find themselves at the NIT. Fun to watch the slide; we need to make sure we give them a couple of strong pushes toward the abyss.
They have to go 9-9 in the Big Ten and if they do that they will make the Tourney. They're not on the bubble quite yet. Believe it or not PSU is 125 in the RPI and OSU is 18 so they've got a lot of room. Now if they don't go 9-9 then I think they are NIT bound. There are five more OSU away games so they have a tough road. Also 15-13 Wisconsin with 7:30 left in the half now 15-15 with a good basket. Let's go Cats.
This is turning out to be a great night of basketball!
The only thing wrong with this picture is next year's class for OSU looks really good, back to typical Matta recruiting again. If they were recruiting like sparty, this season would be a bad sign for the future.
for several years now?
So, Wisconsin is 6-24 including the 3-11 from beyond the arc, and despite having a worse eFG than Northwestern, they are up one right now. This is a totally believable scenario in Big Ten hoops nowadays.
Lol Wisconsin! lol Wisconsin!
Keep missing those threes!
Hack the cats on down the court,
A basket 20% sure this time!"
Maybe it is a good thing that we don't get NU again.
Stanford up on Arizona as well on ESPN2. An RPI boost that would be, I think, and a SOS boost also
Nice, normally I would have a mixed feeling seeing Arizona lose to another PAC12 team (makes me feel that our loss is less excusable), but we beated Stanford, so I would not mind that game go either way.
Continue the Wednesday beat down on red teams.
NW up 9!!!
Wisconsin might officially suck making our win look not that amazing... but I don't care. Go Cats.
And Wisconsin has 37 points.
NW up 12!!!!!
THEY ARE UP 12 with 5 to go!!!!
NW making it rain, especially Crawford. Wisky is pulling an Iowa and going on a 10 minute fg draught; broke as a joke. Knock on wood, I hope both keep it up.
Another NW 3.
Cats are up by 10 against Wiscy. Are we seeing greater depth in the conference, or an overrated top 3-4 teams?
Wisconsin did go undefeated in the non-conference with wins against Florida, Virginia, and Saint Louis among other solid wins. They faced an actual out of conference schedule. The Big Ten has some really good teams and others that punch above their weight and play with intensity there is no question that this bottom part of the league is relatively fierce.
Debateable. It's a little of both. I'm on my phone or would go into a little more detail on my opinion but though it's a little of both I think it's more the latter and the top of our conference is proving to not be that good this year.
*By not that good I mean they're some damn good teams but not as good as once thought.
There is a lot of minutes left and this is still the home court for Wisconsin. This is something this game is not a Mona Lisa but Northwestern is doing what Wisconsin has lived on forever so yes good job Northwestern this is great. Keep it up and stn the Badgers in Madison again.
based on the weak non-conference schedules.
But both Ohio State and Wisconsin were undefeated in non-conference play, which just makes non-B1G teams look even worse.
unlike Ohio State, WIsconsin had a very respectable non-conference schedule IMO
Beating the doors off Wisconsin
poss bang thread ready?
I enjoy trolling my students more than badger wins anyway so, I'm happy.
you are unlikely to beat anyone, even Northwestern. Geez. I realize Wiscy's defense is not what people are used to, but Wow on the offensive shutdown tonight.
People speaking too soon?
Holy cow, I don't know if I have ever seen a college basketball team handle the press worse then this. Northwestern just gave Wisconsin five free points with a complete inability to get the ball past half court, and now a five second call, geez.
Well considering NW is better than any team in the country at finding ridiculous ways to lose, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they did.
Basically, holy shit. BIG TENNNNNNN
I have a feeling this is going to be more college football than basketball based on the last couple of minutes and here we go. Get the ball in and drive.
Watching NW break the press make me love John Beilien teams that much more.
NOT breaking the press.
Good point. Attempt to break the press*
the ball to someone under your basket. That is twice now.
to set up an inbounds play.
It looks like they are using the same play every time.
This is like watching one of those Polar Bear global warming clips. Northwestern is trying their hardest to keep their heads above water.
Overall, Northwestern is much better without SoboCop, but they could probably use him in this press scenario.
This is effin pathetic. And now they're missing free throws. Me thinks Collins will be working on something called "Press break' later this week in practice.
Kind of torn here. Under normal circumstances I'd be fine with NW beating Wisconsin. But it does make our win at Kohl seem not quite the rare feat.
Chris Collins really is doing a nice coaching job. That team looked hopeless a few weeks ago.
Did not see Matta and Ryan having to bail to keep afloat the way they are now.
So, what do we think about the conference now:
Top tier -- Michigan/MSU/Iowa
Second tier -- Wiscy/Minnesota (?)
Third tier -- OSU/Indiana/Nebraska
The rest -- can't say whether any of PSU, Purdue, Northwestern or Illinois really break out here. Cats looked awful to start year, but have had a couple of decent wins.
I will say that "road win is a good win" has been proven in this conference,
The top tier is just us and Sparty. Iowa perhaps is in a tier of its own - below the two contenders but above Wisc/Minny.
That's what I think too, Iowa is too inconsistent to be top tier. They have played a lot of Top 25 teams such as Michigan and Michigan State and lost them both. They've also lost other games to ranked teams (i.e. Wisconsin) so they're not top tier but they're a solid third place. It should be clear that there's a huge gap between them and MSU / Michigan though. Michigan teams are clearly the best in the B1G right now.
How did Wisconsin get from dangerously good to terribly bad?
Also, while we're ranking teams, Michigan is best in conference obviously. MSU is 2nd best. There's a huge gap between MSU and the third team in the B1G, which is probably Iowa. NW is also playing well (and as 11W points out, is a half game up on Ohio).
Wisconsin might turn things around eventually but they are in a tailspin right now, as is Ohio.
Minnesota is okay under Pitino but needs more wins.
Crazy crazy crazy B1G conference
