A few Top 25 teams are in action tonight on ESPN2:

Iowa is currently up by 8 on MSU nearing the end of the first half.

This game is followed by (4) Arizona at Oregon and St Mary's at (9) Gonzaga

Enjoy the college hoops!

I was literally just going to start this thread. Watching Sparty struggle with Iowa right now is fascinating, mostly because they have absolutely nobody who can score.

"My penchant for hyperbole goes in the shape of a parabolic arc. Tomorrow and the next day, I'll call things exactly how I see them. But, Sunday, whoo boy, it's going to be the most hyperbolic day in the history of mankind."

I see what you did there!

Was shocked to see Iowa winning at the half without devyn marble who is out with an ankle injury. Think MSU will pull away in the 2nd half and win by around 10 though.

MSU is one of those teams we should beat by 20, but if you catch them on the wrong night and don't shoot quite as well they can go off. Hopefully they play like this when we get them.

20 might be a bit of an exaggeration... :) Don't get me wrong, I'd take a win any way we can get it. If that means a 1 point buzzer beater, I'm in. I just think we have better shooters across the board, and we take care of the ball much better.

What they have going for them is athleticism, especially with Payne, Harris, Appling, and Dawson, so if they get fired up and start hitting shots, they're tough.

I disagree.  M can really score, and MSU has turned is a few really bad games.  If they turn in against us like they're playing tonight, a 20 point win wouldn't surprise me at all.

Again, the poster above didn't predict we'd win by 20, just that they're a team we could beat by 20, depending on which MSU team shows up.

It's possible, and I would love nothing more than to see Izzo go bat shit crazy in an embarrassing pair of losses but don't see it happening. I suffered through the 40 plus point beat downs Michigan use to endure to them and would love nothing more than to return the favor. 2 wins or possible 3 by any margin will suffice though.

While that is the politically correct thing to say, we've already beaten two B1G teams by over 20, and another one by 15.  MSU is better than any of those three, but I can see us running them over on our court and theirs.  Our guys will be focused and ready to light it up.  I'd gladly take a one point win at Breslin too, but I think beating them by 10 or more isn't far fetched.

Massey projects this as a 66-65 game, so  everyone is aware. If they keep scoring at this pace, however, you would be looking at a 55-44-ish win for the Hawkeyes. Both teams are killing their impressive 40% from the field right now.

...and the Iowa bench whispers the secret, "Make baskets...". They seem to have remembered this just now.

The latest Judge Dredd film, straight to DVD! I wonder if they got any of the moral ambiguity about lethal force the graphic novel boasted of this time around.

This is how I see it:

Iowa is playing like they really really want to win this game.

MSU is playing like they really really don't want to lose this game.

Me thinks Iowa wins, never play to "not lose". Just my 2 cents.

"It literally was a floor-slapping defensive stand by Michigan State"

now that's good TV!

Every commentator gives the "You don't need a three" speech at this juncture of a game.  It's like from the Great Book of Commentary.  Personally, if I could get an open three I'd take it.

What??? The guy is inconsistent and often sloppy, but a simple  stats-check refutes your observation:

Dawson led all scorers with 17 points and had 4 rebs, 3 assts, 3 steals, and a block.  The guy is usually a turnover machine but only had 1 tonight.

To throw out another stat, it was his best scoring output of the season.

Way to make me defend an MSU player.....but stats don't lie.
