MSU vs. 6 Duke 3 Ohio State vs. 7 Florida 2 Kentucky vs. 12 Kansas
November 15th, 2011 at 7:33 PM ^
In all three games, I'll take "meteor."
November 15th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
I've got nothing against Florida or its fans. One of the few decent schools in the SEC(as far as oversigning goes) and we've never lost in football vs them.
November 15th, 2011 at 7:34 PM ^
Thanks Thad I was waiting for this thread.
November 15th, 2011 at 7:36 PM ^
I have a funny feeling that MSU is gonna be a very very good hoops team. They look really good so far against D00k
November 15th, 2011 at 7:41 PM ^
But they are not a deep or disciplined team
November 15th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
Whoa I just realized duke beat BELMONT by 1 point a few days ago.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
So MSU ~= Belmont. I can live with that.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
is a team to watch and a potential mid-major who can make a deep run in the NCAA tourney. They return just about everybody from last season team who won 30 games. They're a legit team who can play with anybody. Would not surprise me if they can reach E8
November 15th, 2011 at 7:43 PM ^
Branden Dawson is going to be good.
November 15th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
But when did Dane Fife join Izzo's staff?
November 15th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
Duke getting hosed by the refs.
DUKE.
Zombie apocalypse in 3... 2... 1...
November 15th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
care to expand on that?
November 15th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
I forgot Austin Rivers was on Duke. I remember a couple years ago when Indiana was in town, the Maize Rage gave his brother Jeremiah a lot of shit. Those were good times. I hope we have the chance to do that to Austin soon.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
not good.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:09 PM ^
Duke has a proud tradition of trotting out white stiff centers from Cherokee Parks (who was actually good) to Brian Zoubek.
They used to get drafted in the 1st round by dumb NBA teams. Not so much anymore.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
Mike Gminski (helluva player) was the first I can remember (saw play). I think he led the team that took Coach K to his first Final Four.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Close. Gminski was on the 1978 Final Four team, and his senior year was '79-80. Coach K did not take over until the '80-81 season.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:02 PM ^
That's interesting. I remember that Duke team rather well and just assumed Coach K was their coach. Duke was the pre season fav in Gminski's senior year but guys like Magic and Bird had other ideas
November 15th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
OSU losing by 6 on ESPN2 hopefully theses same refs travel to Maui with us so we can use them vs. Duke
November 15th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
34-33 Duke at the half. To be fair, the Blue Devils are getting fouled for breathing right now...
November 15th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Michigan State is better than I thought they would be at this stage. They have some young fellas out there that are good (Trice and Dawson), then the senior from Valpo can play (Wood), plus they have an actual low post game.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
Has barely substituted and Duke will pull away as MSU players wear down and get foul trouble late. This game will be the road map to beating State.

I do think they look aMU C H better than their pre season #2 las year and will contend. But take away Green and they stink.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
You could make the argument that in this game at least Green is actually killing them...he has forced about 4 or 5 horrible shots. had a few brain dead TO's as well.
As long as he plays within himself and not try to be a super scorer they will be fine. As Michigan showed last year a little chemistry will make a team better despite losing your better players.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
come on now guys hate or not...the Duke/Sparty game has been called great. Both teams have been called for touch fouls, obvious travels, and they have let them play for the most part.
That was one of the cleaner officiated halfs in a college b-ball game in a long time.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
why is every student section so much larger than the maize rage? man it just makes me sad to see how much better other student sections are not because of the students but the set up.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:58 PM ^
The maize rage is decent sized this year. The key is getting the guys on the ends into the game. On tv they look like they are just standing there with their hands on their shoulders while the side is loud and into the game.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:22 PM ^
I meant the size of the bleachers, instead of going like 6 rows deep it should go like 12 deep, make it much better.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
They're going to three-point each other to death in this game, and Florida's Mike Rosario threw a great pass to Tacopants earlier. Can one's imaginary friend play two sports at two separate schools?
November 15th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
Coach K needs to sit Plumlee's ass on the bench for a little while after that T.
I was watching and MSU was close with Duke. I turn on the Wings game in time to see the Wings not score on the PP, and give one up to the Blues.
I think I'm going to watch the Food Network. At the rate I'm going, I'll see an oven fire within 10 minutes.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Well, looks like MSU's basketball team is as dirty as their football team...
November 15th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
Twist head
Punch head
Knee head
Taze head
Billy-club head
November 15th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Cross off flying knee drop as well.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
Apparently it's illegal to call a technical on an Izzo team.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
is pretty epic right now.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Is there a reasoned, stoic, "So, You May Start The Season 0-2..." thread?
November 15th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
Sullinger is looking pretty svelte
November 15th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
I like watching Nix run. He's a funny dude; looks like a robot when he runs, not a lot of fluidity there.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
He runs like a mentally challenged water buffalo.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
That kid (Nix) doesn't have very good hands. And he runs like a robot. Where's my scotch.

I like how Knight keeps implying MSU has poor fundamentals and bad game strategy. He's said everything except they are poorly coached.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
Man, I hate rooting for Duke.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:22 PM ^
"I think Nix has some sort of anxiety going on, sometimes he looks smooth with soft hands, other times, completely rigid" - from RCMB
...and when did you first start believing you could play basketball? *scribbles furiously as patient replies at length with long stream of father issues*
November 15th, 2011 at 9:23 PM ^
Duke's gonna mess around and turn this into a game.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
I about lost it when the pass went right through Payne's legs right under the basket.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
Is there an assistant on Duke that didn't play for Coach K AND that wasn't a hated weasel while they were playing?
November 15th, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
getting in the duke guy's face after that 3 should've gotten him T'd up.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
Wow appling seems like an asshole
November 15th, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
Bobby Knight sounds like shit, and he doesn't look much better, either.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
MSU SUX - get the brooms out again. I know they played DUKE & UNC and kept the deficit under 20, but if Burke keeps improving like the jump we've seen from game 1 to 2 and State still can't develop an inside game, we'll get em 2wice.
Ohio State - Thad Matta just looks like a cheater. They are good though. If we make our free throws and play smart, they are beatable. Our bigs will have to play exceptional defense.
