Do you realize how pathetic and random that is.

Shouldn't it be, oh, I dunno... "We declare war on Sparty and Buckyes."  Just a thought.

And, it's not like we are winning this war. One Husker so far, zero Bruins yet.  Is this Ukraine declaring on Russia?

Sorry, but we're trying to get high on the powers of our newfound coaching staff, but reality is that they haven't had the time or opportunity to flip, you know, really top-notch, local guys.  Damage was done to the 2015 class.  It's not like Harbaugh can point at 5-stars and bring them en masse, that's not how its going it seems.

Personally, I think he needs to show the goods to recruits over the next couple of years, on the field.  And we have a solid, young team with which he can do that, so I think it'll all work out -- we just aren't going to suddenly be the Carroll/USC of the Midwest in terms of recruiting, er, I guess that might be Urbs/Buckeyes right now....

What do you mean trying to get high?  You must not be inhaling bro!

You think it will take 2 years before blue-chip recruits consider?  Thankfully there will be plenty that don't share your lack of vision.  Marshall's dad just endorsed the program as a potential destination for his son.  You think he based that off of last year's record?  The man can connect the dots between Harbaugh's track record, UM resources, and near-term success - as will most recruits/parents that do their homework.

I'm not a delusional Harbaugh slappy expecting a playoff berth next year, but beyond that I won't put anything past him.  The guy is hyper-competitive and relentless. OSU just set the mark as the reigning champ and #1 going into next season.  That is motivation unknown to mankind.

Never thought I would see the day that UCLA gives UM fits with recruiting...

Now that I think about it more.. they're kinda legit when they have a football program..

Literally equal to Michigan in every way except tradition which I guess is offset by the weather factor.

Depends on your age.  If you are in your 30s or younger you think of UCLA as a dinosaur I guess (just like if you are 20 or younger you think of UM like that).  I grew up in the 80s and UCLA was in the Rose Bowl a lot under Donahue - 82, 83, 85 - and won them all.

From 80 to 88 they had a very Michigan under Carr type run.  So I always thought they were pretty good but have been a chronic underachiever in the 90s and 00s.  They have every advantage under the sun (incl the sun) other than the stadium is off campus.  It's a sleeping giant sort of program - more than enough talent in CA to serve both USC and UCLA.  Not quite the tradition of UM or USC or that first tier of program but you don't need tradition to win nowadyas - the right coach, and right environment and you can win big.

Totally made up conversation in the Wojo theme:

Iman: Yo bro, just met with Coach Harbaugh in home.  I'm changing my mind and going to Michigan.  Can't beat the ice skating there. Come with?

Colin: Let me check it out, if I like.... I'm gone.

Iman: Long Beach Poly forever.

Colin: Yep, yep.  Announce together?

Iman: K.

Iman: You bringing Clark?

Colin: Pshh, he is already headed there.

Has there ever been a time when so many players are commited to another school come for official visits to Ann Arbor?  More evidence that if Harbaugh has a great first season the recruits will be banging down the gates trying to get into Ann Arbor and Alabama type recruiting will be the norm (without the overrecruiting, greyshirts, medical hardships, etc.).

UCLA has four current corner commits(Lockett, Samuel, Octavius Spencer, and Stephen Johnson) and is looking good for Dechaun Holiday. Makes for an opening with the right pitch,

Combine that with UCLA and Michigan's similar academic and athletic profiles and there's a recipe for fighting over a lot of recruits in the future.

Makes sense.  I think we'll have a similar class next year with S and CBs - all our S are gone after 2016 (incl Peppers if he is only here 3 years).

Rivals has Johnson as an ATH

Love his size. Marshall connection is nice too but I'd be thrilled with him on his own. I think we have a realistic shot at Iman but if not give me Arnette and Samuel and I'm more than happy.

Samuel, who was offered by Brady Hoke's coaching staff as well, is a late-rising prospect whom many consider to be one of the top defensive backs on the west coast for the 2015 class. He originally planned to visit Michigan officially, but backed off after Hoke's firing and committed to UCLA shortly thereafter.

I didn't remember his name but it said Hoke offered him and he had planned on taking an official visit.
