Cole at Center - Spring Game - and other updates from Angelique

Are 1st string and 2nd string OLines one pick each? Heard that rumor. Would be good for the spring game for cohesion purposes, but I also doubt coaches would basically tell someone they are first string after camp.

Coach always said that Center was the only guy who touched the ball every play.  Although our center in high school was also the long snapper.

I don't want to overreact to the Cole situation because it is spring.  A couple of observations though:  First, it doesn't seem that Cole is thrilled with the idea.  He may warm to it but we will see.  Second, as many have said, Kugler not stepping up to sieze the position is troubling.  If he determines that he has been passed by a sophmore, I would think he will seriously consider transferring, impacting depth.  I am sure others will face some soul-searching as people review the impact of the new regime.

with 3 to 4 different snapping techniques compounded with multiple QBs of different size and style, not to mention new schemes.  There are going to be issues in the spring.

The first relevant comment on this thread was apparently #58, which says all you need to know about the couple of trolls around here who escape the banhammer for a couple of minutes.

Anyway, Cole at center can either be viewed as a positive (there are good enough options at tackles to try to the move) or negative (Cole coming off a true freshman tackle season is a better option at center than the guys recruited for it for years).  I'd like to think it's the prior, but all that talk about solid line recruiting under Hoke is getting weaker and weaker as they struggle to fill key positions despite lots of bodies.
