Cold War II @ the Big House: 12/11/10

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on
Michigan and Michigan State will take their hockey rivalry to another level in December when they play outdoors at the Big House. The deal was recently finalized, a U-M official said, and the Wolverines and Spartans will take the ice at Michigan Stadium on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. The first time Michigan faced Michigan State outdoors, the teams played to a 3-3 tie at Spartan Stadium on Oct. 6, 2001. The "Cold War" game drew a crowd of 74,554 -- a record for college hockey attendance.

sporting events are worthy of the Big House as a venue, but this game will be truly awesome to see AND will break the attendance record for a college hockey game. Nice work by the Athletic Dept.

It will be great if over 100,000 show up and Michigan wins. It would be nice to have the record books say that the largest attendence for a hockey game was in Ann Arbor and that the winner was the University of Michigan. Someting like this might be worth flying up from Florida.
