Coach Rod discusses the spread offense

Some of you have no doubt already seen this, but it's a 2-minute video of RR discussing the spread offense back when he was at WVU. He talks about the different decisions Pat White has to make when running the zone read. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e4zyYXJUnE I thought that it was relevant for our purposes since it's looking like Denard is going to have significant involvement in running the offense this year, which may cause our offense to look more like the Pat White-led offense that RR ran at WVU.

Ah yes, back when he was still a media darling at WVU before he committed the abominable sin of getting hired at Michigan. Now everything written about him is negative. Interesting tidbit: during the 2007 season Sporting News wrote an obnoxious caption on why Michigan fans shouldn't get their hopes up of winning the Big 10 after beating ND 38-0. One reason was UM's supposed insistence on "keeping it in the family" in hiring a coach. But then the interesting, almost-prophetic phrase (quote is almost exact): "When are they going to call Rich Rodriguez?" It was a strange reason to write since the other reasons had to do with that season in particular. One was that Penn State, Wisconsin, and OSU were "um, more talented." I'm serious. The asshole who wrote it sounded like one of those nerds who post on freep/espn/youtube/bleacher report message boards.

I was screaming for UM to go outside the family tree for a new coach for about four years, using adjectives such as "anachronistic" or "incestuous" to describe what had happened at UM. I wrote a letter to then-UM beat writer Jim Carty suggesting Rodriguez once. I really wanted either Meyer or Peterson, though. I never thought RR would leave his "dream job." Funny how dreams can turn into nightmares so quickly in West Virginia.
