Why dress and not play? Coming back from an ACL isn't like a gametime call for a tight hamstring. It's either time to come back and play, or there's no reason to dress. It's not like he'll wake up Saturday morning and the ACL will feel any different than it did all week. Sounds like he's playing to me.

But I think they suit up JMFR but don't let him play. It's one step closer than he's been, but they make him wait one more week. The reason my belly feels this way is due to Hoke. I think he's more worried about him than Jakes mother. He does not want the thought of a re injury on his shoulders. He cares too much about the player than his own personal gain. Okay, I know that sounds like I'm drinking the Hoke cool aid, and I know his sweat doesn't cure cancer, but it just seems he's more worried about him coming back too soon than any one else.

If he's cleared by the doctors, then his ACL is as ready as it's going to get. The chance of re-injury now isn't any more/less than it would be a week, month, or year from now. At this point, it's about getting up to game speed and getting through any mental blocks. There are Adrian Petersons and there are Derrick Roses. My guess is that Jake isn't the type of guy that would let the mental side of things bother him. It looks like his mind is consumed by getting to the QB and chasing down runners. It's hard to think when your RPMs are constantly in the red.

I doubt this is the case. While it will undoubtedly give emotional lift to the team and the fans to see him out there, the coaches aren't going to just put him in with an ACL that's not been tested in a game only when the game is on the line. He's likely going to a bit rusty initially, like Countess was. I'll predict he gets in on the 2nd or 3rd series.

Does anyone actually believe that Hoke doesn't already know whether Ryan is playing tomorrow? I'm like 80% confident that he'll play, but I'm 107% sure that decision has already been made.

...but it won't be as a spark or a gimmick.

Personally, I don't think he's needed. I've always said..."get some snaps vs. Indiana, take the Bye Week to respond and recover. Go 100% vs. MSU."

I'm a lot more concerned about how he will come back from the loss of his long locks. Can he adjust? Will he be the same dominant force?

Was thinking about that line in Top Gun.  Wish I was knowledgeable enough to embed that clip from the movie.  Regardless I say get him out there!
