Coach Ferrigno visiting BYU Commit Tanner Mangum
Scout has an article on Coach Ferrigno visiting BYU QB commit Tanner Mangum.
Question for the recruiting staff, with Bellomy last year and Morris for next year. How many more QB's do you think they will be looking into?

I am open to any opinions.
I know BYU doesn't allow caffeine, but what about snake oil?
1 QB a year.
Thanks for your comment. I understand the whole 1 QB a year. I was just wondering if they might take 2 or more. We seem to have this two by two approach to commits this recruiting cycle. Honestly, i am excited each week to see who commits to us.
They won't take 2. Taking a QB in 2012 will give us 4 schollie QBs in 2012 with another locked in for 2013. That's plenty.
Double Post. I take this as a sign that perhaps I might be wrong...
Or really right.
When IMO i think anything with a back at that end of it that commits with possible Kiel commitment should count! QB plus RB (Brionte Dunn ahhem ahhem this is your Q!) would be sufficient enough for me!
The LDS allows kids to commit to multiple schools.
well played sir
I wish his name was Hammer Magnum.
Not at BYU.
If his name was Hammer Magnum, his nickname would *have* to be "Sledge".
Tanner Ovhides (pronounced "of hides").
I get what you're asking. I think they are just exploring every option. If you read his brief overview by scout. This kid has some impressive numbers. I know that the competition in Idaho is not the same as Texas, Florida, or even California. If i had to sum it up for you, they are doing their due dilligence. Plus the whole QB a year thing is a common practice.
How can you possibly consider using the three biggest HS FB talent producing states for a comparison to Idaho. Idaho doesn't even compare to Michigan yet alone one of the big three.
He said nothing about Idaho being similar to those states.
If making a comment about using the top 3 HS FB talent producing states in the country when talking about Idaho is flamebait (?) the board has gotten way to PC for me.
but if we settle for a QB like this O'conner, or appleby i will be fine as long as it still pushes the other QBs to be better and strive
who posted that he saw on scout last night that Gunner Kiel may commit to us this week
don't go toying with my emotions. I hope you can find this person. This would be great news for Michigan. A major coup for Hoke and Company, if he did commit to us.
but a guy was talking about it in this thread http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/semi-ot-shotput-accident-involving-chris-wo…
Well, you should read this conversation http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/94/tOfficial-2012-Football-Rec…
I know it's a sparty forum, but there are some hints about us and Kiel as well, the plot thickens...
here's a preview:

I suspect that scUM either won't take a qb in this class or will go for more the career backup/project type.
Really? i know we make fun of OSU with tOSU and TSIO but that seems a little over the top. Stay classy my friend.
Well it's a sparty board, no one can expect more from their fans I guess, but there are rumors about UM and Gunner Kiel all over that page
HairyPalms? HairyPalms... Where are you when we need that info cleared up?
but the fact that coaches are offering other QB's leads me to believe they know something Scout boards don't.
JMHO
im just asking if there is any truth to what that guy said last night.
or Mangum? - If it is the later - it is one of the most epic names I've heard.
I think it was just speculation.... Allen Trieu suggestied that UM may have another big week.
he should log back on and tell us the whole thing
Someone on Scout let slip that al borges sent Gunner a reply on facebook that said "Should he be expecting to hear from him this week." This has caused a lot of wild speculation to about the meaning of this.
OMG Shirtless!!
Perhaps The Hulk is also trying to get Magnum's Tight End TC as a package deal
oh whats that...its Mangum not Magnum....? oh well...
is close to a decision does anyone have scout insider to give up the bulk of it because i know you cant post about paid things
EDIT: sorry if this was offtopic i just saw it and i cant start my own thread so i figured id ask it here while this post is getting some attention
I thought you only needed 100 points to start your own thread?
that i guess i can start my own threads. i thought it was something like 1000. but also i dont want to start a thread and have no info
Yea I just checked MGoBoard FAQ's and its only 100 points, but yea I understand if you don't want to start your own threads without more knowledge... People can be brutal on here.
this board can be awesome for finding stuff out and talking about recruiting but if you post the wrong thing or say something wrong you get screwed over and negged
It's not that they go out of their way to be mean. Most people here are pretty chill. It's just that if you start a thread with no info, people get pissed when they read it, then someone with a Scout membership goes out and reads the article and comes back with more info and has the option to either bury it in comments or start his own thread so that now we have two threads about the same thing... well, you see my point. The way you did this is the best way, IMO. This lets someone with a Scout membership go see if it's worth posting about (and then, ideally they'd give you props in their post, even though I know you didn't share the info for recognition).
Has Michigan ever had a player from Idaho?
Edward Dickey, 1903
Homer Martin, 1921
Gilmore Price, 1894
Rex Wells, 1943
I'm kinda curious.......
How did they even recruit a player from as far away as Idaho in 1894? Take a ten-day train ride to watch him?
even in those days.
I am suspecting this was more a case of him coming for an education and trying out for the team. He was good enough to make the team.
He was the top ranked player on scout in 1894. He was also a 5 star on rivals and espn rated him as a 93.
was reason enough to get anyone an automatic 5 star in those days
but their program only started in 1893 (one year prior). Price wanted to join an established winner with high expectations for the future. He'd heard rumors of playing in front of a hundred thou one day.
