Sweet, but nascar sucks
Were assistant coaches Fast and Race there as well?
The bars last night were full of NASCAR fans, very annoying. I've never been a fan of NASCAR and that didn't make it any better.
But good for Coach Carr, they couldn't have gotten a better representative to be at that position.

no way to delete double posts, or edit them, on mgodroid. oh well.
outlaw nascar or at least get it off ESPN.
Eh, to each his own. I probably feel the same way about soccer as you feel about NASCAR.
Regardless, I thought it was a great opportunity for him to be an ambassodor for UofM to millions of people who may not otherwise care.
Ya don't mind me I'm just pissed that NASCAR gets more national coverage than the NHL. le sigh, I suppose. I can't stand NASCAR on TV but I've been to MIS for a race once and I've been to one outside of Dallas when I was visiting family. Actually a lot of fun in person. Be prepared to get piss drunk.
I agree about MOAR Hockey!! I rarely get the Red Wings on the west coast
All blame for TV Coverage should fall under Bettman. He's the one who has decided to keep the NHL on Versus, and until the channel completely merges with NBC we're going to be stuck with no coverage. Also it doesn't help that Blehman blew off ESPN twice now for different networks, so in return they just completely ignore all things Hockey and if they have to cover it, get horrible stock analyst's (fuck Barry and Barnaby)
"Hey. I'm Ricky Bobby. When you're workin' on your mysterious lady parts and stuff, you should have the right tools too. That's why you should use MayPax. The official tampon of NASCAR."
A nod to his Tennessee roots, perhaps.
Perhaps, but Carr was at MIS as part of a contingent promoting "Wolverines for Life." From an MIS press release:
Carr will be part of a University of Michigan team attending Sunday’s race to promote Wolverines for Life, an effort to encourage life-saving blood, organ and tissue donations. Wolverines for Life is a collaboration between the U-M Health System and other groups, along with the American Red Cross, Be the Match/National Marrow Donor Program, Gift of Life Michigan and the Michigan Eye-Bank.
“I am a Wolverine for Life, and that goes well beyond the athletic field. Through Wolverines for Life we hope to wipe out the deaths that occur because people are waiting for life-saving organs, blood or tissue. Every day, 19 people die while waiting for a transplant. That’s a score we can’t live with,” Carr said.
On a side/trivia note, MIS no longer has a seating capacity larger than that of Michigan Stadium, according to a Jackson Citizen Patriot article:
The removal of some of the grandstands has opened up area between turns 3 and 4 and reflects the drop in ticket demand during the past decade.
The elimination of the grandstands has reduced the seating capacity of MIS by about 14,000. The capacity of the grandstand is now listed by the speedway at 106,000 seats for the 2011 season.
The speedway listed a seating capacity as high as 137,243 grandstand seats for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. This year marks the first time since 1997 that MIS does not have a seating capacity larger than that of the University of Michigan football team’s Michigan Stadium, which has a capacity of 109,901.
fell asleep about 1 lap after the opening lap.
Carr was tremendous, though he looked and sounded out of place.
