Coach B Gets 700 Wins

Submitted by alum96 on

Thank you Coach B on bringing our program back.   And finding the right staff when it wasn't working to potential early.  Congrats on win 700!

(List of coaches over 600 wins here if curious, some data appears a bit stale - anyhow you get the idea!  This article's factual accuracy may be compromised due to out-of-date information. Please update this article to reflect recent events or newly available information. (December 2013))

Totally underrated. I haven't heard a single national commentator talking about this. Just shows how Beilein just goes about his business and cares about nothing else but winning. Wouldn't trade him for anyone in the country. Congrats Coach B!

When you pay too much for cable, you get frustrated. When you get frustrated, you take it onto the court. When you take it onto the court, you foul the other team's center, Jordan Morgan. When you foul Jordan Morgan, he makes his FTs. When he makes his FTs, you back off on defense. When you back off on defense, Michigan hits everything. And when Michigan hits everything, your coach gets fired for an embarassing performance.

Don't have your coach fired for an embarassing performance.

This list says he's at 603 wins and it says they updated it at the end of last year. We won a lot this year but I don't think we got 97.

That list isn't counting his 75 wins at Erie C.C., which isn't an NCAA or NAIA school. The number still seems off—the total before this year (not counting Erie C.C.) should have been 598.

Regardless, this was the 700th overall win of his coaching career.

Below are the top 15 winningest active coaches—heading into the 2013-14 season—from the official NCAA record book. This includes only wins at four-year U.S. colleges, so it reflects all of Beilein's wins prior to this season, except for the ones at Erie C.C.

598 + 75 + 27 wins this season = 700.

Probably not talked about because I don't think they were all at the division 1 level. Still agree that Beilein doesn't get enough praise from national media.

One thing I noticed today is that after every big shot Beilein gives a single hard clap in celebration.  I think I'm going to start doing this whenever something good happens in daily life.

First and foremost, congratulations to John Beilein on another career milestone reached.

Even on that list from Wikipedia that the OP posted, there are some select names indeed from college hoops history (and present in several cases as well), and it is great to see your coach in that sort of company. Hopefully, he's around in Ann Arbor long enough to start reaching for the likes of Coach K and Boeheim in terms of total wins before he retires, but he's already an elite company.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that saw Dave Brandon not only in the locker room after the game, but he interrupted Coach Beilein in his post game speech and talked to the team...

and many more. He is getting players he likes and who want to learn. I think he is having a lot of fun. I'm hoping he will be around for a long time. The epitome of class, dignity and integrity.

Coach B is the greatest coach in the history of Michigan athletics.  What this man has done is nothing short of remarkable.  Winning games, bringing us back to elite status, conference and tournament success, getting the most out of hearlded recruits and under the radar guys, putting guys in the NBA, and being just an all around great guy! He better get a statute when he hangs 'em up!
