Clint Brewster: Wheatley Jr. Update
According to Clint Brewster, Tyrone Wheatley Jr. is now 6'7" 286 pounds. With his athleticism he could develop into a first round left tackle.
Unable to embed the tweet at the time but passing along the info for discussion. Where do you think Wheatley Jr. ultimately ends up position wise?
Holy Cow. I wish I could replicate these kids' diet. They all must be eating some serious grub.
...is it an NCAA violation for Sr. to buy a meal for Jr.? Given how ridiculous the regulations are, this is sort of a serious question...
If he can finish top 10 in the state in sprinting, put a number 80 on that man and send him out hunting.
But, as I recall he was 260-270 when he committed by his own admission.
Could be the next Jon Janson. TE convert to tackle.
switched from TE to OT and that worked out pretty ok....
#1 overall pick, Eric Fisher, also made the switch after arriving at CMU.
Or he could move to defense and become the next JJ Watt.
Yeah DE is also the first thing I thought. He played both TE and DE in HS, if I recall correctly. A Julius-Peppers-style destroyer of worlds would be a pretty nice thing to have.
Second overall pick at Tackle
Jason Smith, 2nd pick in 2009 draft was recruited as a TE by Baylor.
Quite a transformation already. 247 had him listed as 6'6", 235 lbs. during his recruitment. I guess a lot can happen in 4 months.
as Chip Kelly says, "long arms make strong levers", and I bet not all of that is good weight at this point in his career
Strong side DE to me
Some schools recruited him as a DE. I think USC was one of them.
but is it a good weight gain?
All weight gain is good weight gained
All weight loss is good weight lost

so she does not get crushed.
(Did I just type that out loud?)

trying to tackle him after he has the ball down field.
There's a twitter pic of him today. He doesn't look like hes 286 pounds. If so, he carries it better than anyone ever has.
OMG SHIRTLESS pics!
Does anyone have any shirtless pics? For my friends I mean. And to see his development.
Too soon....
He's too small to play TE.
Sincerely,
Baylor
He may have adamantium bones, because He doesn't look it:
I was trying to post this. There is no way he is 286 pounds.
Maybe not 286, but I bet he's close. Look at the photo below, he makes Sr. looks small, and Sr. is anything but small.
Holy freaking crap. Is he standing on a box? Is Dad standing in a hole? He makes his father look small. He looks a full 12 inches taller.
I was trying to post this. There is no way he is 286 pounds.
Didn't realize he was 6'8"! He's going to be an amazing red zone target.
And for a TE that wouldn't want to lose too much speed, 286 lbs is probably a bit much to be carrying anyway.
Figure TW Sr. was 6' and 235lb playing weight... he's probably an easy 260 pounds now.
Looking at that picture I can believe Jr. is 5-7" taller and 25lbs heavier than Dad.
6', maybe 6'1". Wikipedia says 6' if you want to believe that.
I stood behind him in line at the Target on Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. in 1994.
I was just under 6'2" at the time - he was 2" or more shorter than I.
That is why I believe the 6'7", 286.
Sr. is 6' and a good 260. Jr. is easily 5-7" and 25lbs heavier.
as 6'-1". I've been close to him at the UM Ferry Field track, and Ty Sr. is an immense human being as it is.
I have an identical height and frame as Sr. and I tip the scales at 265. Looking at the picture of the two of them, I think it's very plausible the Jr. is in the 280's. That kids a beast.
Wow, TJ has gotten big! I met him last September, and he wasn't that tall or that jacked.
tell him we have a new power forward he needs to check out.
