I don't mean to be a dick... or maybe I do, but you can say whatever the heck you want to with regard to an unfinished building. I think there's an analog somewhere in this ridiculousness that is the SEC... Unfinished business, unfinished buildings.... too bad Michigan is about to crush the SEC/ESPN party. And I cannot wait to be a witness to the destruction.

All these facilities are a de-facto way of paying the players by providing them free access to the things they would normally pay for as a teenager / early 20's male on a college campus . . . movies, video games, putt-putt, etc.

It's actually a smart move until they change the rules.

Michigan should just identify the top 10 places that the players like to hang out at on campus and declare them part of the training facilities.  And then give the players free access.

Here's a philosophical question:

Option A: You and all your teammates get $2000 each spending money, per year (on top of that stipend money that you don't use all of for housing).

Option B: You and your teammates don't get that individual $2k; but you get THAT facility.

I've always been of the "pool the money for something great" philosophy.  Therefore, I've never seen the need to pay the players more.  D1 Scholarship football and basketball players live like kings.  5% maybe could/should get more.  Let them sell autographs and you have the best of both worlds.

they do live like Kings! These guys get to play and train in the greatest facilities in the nation and regular students are not allowed to use them. They get access to top medical and athletic trainers. They get free tuition, room and board. They get academic facilities with free tutors that regular students can not access. They are given tons of free athletic gear to wear from head to toe. They get all kinds of great meals on top of their free food already paid for by the university. They also receive stipens for living arrangements, which believe me is more then they need. They get treated like rock stars on campus.

Yea they pretty much do live like Kings.

All that ridiculous crap and their bagmen and they still couldn't sign Rashan Gary.

This is gonna create entitlement like no other.

Putt Putt courses, bowling alley. What a ridiculous bunch of crap.

A football building is a place of business. Not an amusement park. Good luck with that, Clemson.

Yeah...

...and I don't buy the get a job argument.  At least not while in season.  The players may only be limited to 20 hours a week contact with coaches but when you add up film time, weights, training table, etc., and studying, that's about a 19 hour day!

...and that's just not football players either.  That's just about any student athlete's day.

bowling alley? Granted, they may have to go a short distance to get there.

I can't see anyone making a decision over putt putt golf so I'm not too worried. Now if they had an earthquake simulater...

I think most of them would rather get out and hang with friends unless they can bring them there.

That's actually what I'm thinking of. We've been in a couple recruiting battles with Clemson and really this facility is impressive. Although I'm also confident that the new facilities being made at Michigan will be amazing as well. And there's nothing to compare between Harbaugh and Dabo Swinney

Funny, Dabo has been one of the most outspoken critics of football players' "entitlement"... while paying truckloads of money to croots, criticizing those who advocate paying them legally, and rolling into work in a $100k+ car. That's why I'd never play for that guy. He can dance with the team and act like he's not like a regular mom, he's a cool mom but the hypocrisy reeks.

Like what, his mom and he being abused by a drunk father.  Having to live in his car with his mom and friends during high school??

Walking on at Alabama and earning everything he got?

Yeah, skeletons alright.

I wonder if Jim checks the closet for skeletons when he has his little sleep over with recruits????

his buddies and anchor the best D-line in CFB.  We got in on him late.  We will land Drew Singleton so we will split 50-50.  If I had my way personally, we'd be holding camps in your state.  I'm young and pursuing a Clemson Recruiting Media position and it won't be long.  I'm personally going to make a pipeline from detroit to saginaw.  You wait and see.

Not to rain on your parade of hopes and dreams, but why would you ever consider holding camps up in Michigan, when the talent in Ga, Fl, Al, La, MS, TX, CA, OH, is levels above what we have in Michigan? I'd recommend sending someone to represent Clemson at SMSB in Detroit, but to hold your own camp up here is comical. And good luck swaying the 2-3 kids/recruiting cycle that get recruited nationally to go anywhere but OSU, UofM, MSU, USC, and Alabama.
