Clark, Countess, and Ryan Named to Nagurski Award Watchlist

Submitted by GoBlueinMN on

Yet another watch list as football season slowly creeps closer. This time it is the Bronco Nagurski Award for the nation's most outstanding defensive player.

Countess included with Clark and Ryan this time.

Assuming no repeats (which there are, but let's run with this for a moment), there are 453 players among all the released lists to date. If we pretended for a second that all 126 FBS teams carried a 125-man roster (just a nice round figure - specific teams will vary, of course), then that's 15,750 players theoretically on Division I rosters. We then have 453 out of 15,750, or 2.876%, so about half after all the lists are released, I agree.

Happy to see Michigan represented on the list.. But is it just me or are these list kinda useless? It's kinda excited in that it means football season is closer. But honestly who cares about a list of hundred kids that "might" win a award 5 months later?

most teams are sending three seniors, UM and osu included, with a few exceptions here and there.  But sparty sending two juniors and a senior.  No accusation accompanying that, just find it curious.

Again, all ??? on the OL...The "Tot" column is somewhat misleading since there are many duplicates adding to the total...

Bed Nag Max Out Rim Tot
UM 2 3 2 0 0 7
OH 2 2 1 1 0 6
MSU 3 3 2 2 1 11
PSU 1 0 1 1 0 3
ND 2 2 1 1 1 7
