Chuck at Halftime, or He Shall be a Hero of History

Submitted by JBE on

Woodson attempted to give a halftime speech, but was moved to tears, which gave all the Packers a fuzzy feeling and helped them subsequently win.   Additionally, I hear the White House is lovely this time of year.

Excerpt from article:

"I just asked the guys to understand how much I wanted it," Woodson said.

"That's all he could get out," linebacker Desmond Bishop said. "He was all choked up, and there was just something about it that motivated all of us."

There is also a video of him holding the trophy in the article.

My opinion:  Charles Woodson is celestial.

Also, SIAP baby, SIAP

That is an amazing accomplishment.  He should be first ballot HOF in my epinion.

I was really pulling for the Packers to win so that he can finally get the ring that he deserves.  It was hard to see him run to the locker rooms, but in the end I was happy for him.

And a Rose Bowl win, not to mention the defensive player of the year. But really, Woodson will be in the HoF as one of the great CBs of all time, and realistically Desmond's not going to sniff it.

It's too bad that he got injured halfway through the big game.

<br>But as a defensive player, if you're going to get injured in the Superbowl, what better way to do it than on a touchdown-saving play?

He went all out on the play, sacrificing his body to make a play. Can't feel like you weren't giving your all doing that. Better than some away from the play weird turf injury. Trying to make the play to get the win meant more than his body.

What an amazing football career.

I know other players have won more Super Bowl Rings, but has there ever been anyone who has accomplished so many things throughout their entire football career?

My grandfather worked for US Steel in Pittsburgh and worked with many of the players in the 60's and 70's who did offseason work (mostly PR but also managerial training, etc - football paid a lot less in those days).  I grew up with many autographs and a few jerseys here and there.

I love my Steelers.

But loosing to my favorite player of all time, even when injured at halftime, took away any disappointment I had.  Am at ease with this.

Woodson has always received great press coverage, but it has been nice seeing it develop this year into the team "spiritual leader", according to the article.  Thanks for posting!

I'm looking forward to the day when Woodson is walking the sidelines at the Big House wearing coach's gear.
