Last week I discovered that RedZone was included in the HD package we got like 2 years ago. It was without a doubt, the greatest thing to happen to me this year. Today should be fun!
Christmas Eve NFL Open Thread (The Lions can clinch a playoff spot)
Another Festivus Miracle!
I keep waiting for them to screw it up somehow.
I would love, LOVE, to be in the Rams situation, were they to finish with the first pick. My favorite sporting event is the NFL draft (don't ask), and I would love to be a fly on the wall with the offers they'll get for that pick.
With the QB situation in their division, I don't see them having much choice.
I asked Santa to give Philip Rivers a 24 hour flu. Hopefully that works out better than last year when I asked for world peace. I dont even like Ron Artest.
I love the Lions and so hope they win today but being 52 and having witnessed one heartbreak after another watching this team I can't help but worry they will somehow screw this up.
What sucks for me is that here in Cleveland we are going to get the Dallas-Philly game as our late game, not the Lions-Chargers. And being Christmas Eve there is no way the avatar is going to let me go find a bar and watch it.
The Lions game is going to be broadcast in NYC! So I can actually watch while following the wise and discerning commentary herein.
is your friend. I laugh when the TV execs tell me to choose between NE-Den or Cin-Pit. Ha ha your regional programming cannot stop me!
I'll be at the game in Detroit. It's gonna be a great atmosphere and I'm hoping for a monumental Lions win!!!!
Didn't the lions make the playoffs in 1999?
Thanks for the link. I remember almost missing a flight from Detroit Metro because I was watching Barry break the record and the Lions beating the Jets. AWESOME.
And once again, Morning Woodley has reached the finals.
A dilemma arises: an injured Vincent Jackson, or a healthy Malcom Floyd (or Michael Crabtree)?
Having a great quiet day at the home, waiting for the Lions to come on. It's going to be a exciting game, an electric atmosphere. The Lions better get the job done today, playing at Lambeau is not going to be a picnic. I wouldn't be surprised if the Packers played their starters the whole game, seeing as we are one of their rivals. Who stomped on one of their own. Out of spite.
GO HONOLULU BLUE!!!
than screwing the Lions. They are not going to risk injury in order to burn the Lions.
"We want to play our starters in a meaningless game against a team that STOMPED our players" has some fail to it.
If Bielema were the coach then I could maybe see it. Not sure about McCarthy but it sounds unlikely.
2.If the Lions lose we need Chicago, Seatlle, and Arizona to lose plus one of the following three things; Dallas loss, NYG loss, or Atlanta win.
This should hold over the next two weeks, I think. Hopefully we just win today and get it over with.
Fake FG for a 35 yard TD called back by a delay of game penalty.
Misses the FG.
I REALLY want to see the Rams end up with the first pick. Watching a solid 10-20 (25? 30?) GMs trip over each other to give up the most for the pick would be highly entertaining.
Browns are awful. Pat Shurmer looks lost on the sideline.
Dolphins 17, Patriots 0!!! O_O
How is Mark Sanchez an NFL Quarterback? He really struggles to play football
Y u hatin?
Sorry. Just an observation.
Good thing Sanchez wasn't the QB on the field at the time.
What was that Giants player thinkng?
Wow, Giants 99-yd TD pass.
One of those guys nobody'd heard of until he started getting on the field. Injured and lost in pre-season last year after whetting our appetites, and now that he's healthy...
Cromartie getting stuffed on every kickoff.
And Browns run the football. Unbelievable.
The Factory of Sadness is open for business!
When it's even sad with a 13 point spread.
is that the Ravens are the meta-Browns--if Modell hadn't traded the team Cleveland would have been to a Super Bowl by now.
Zook'd. I didn't see it but what you described sounds like the most boneheaded call I've ever heard.
Because on 2nd and goal they had been stopped inbounds.
I hope that's a fumble and Giants TD.
if you didn't see Simpsons flip, here's a link for ya.
I be like dang!
John Fox proves once again that coaches don't use their brains enough... Tebow is stopped short of a first down, and in stead of simply lining up and going for it on 4th and short, Fox challenges the play. The ruling is confirmed, so Fox goes for it anyway.
Wastes a challenge
Wastes a timeout
If you were going to go for it anyway, why challenge?
I don't know one team that is getting less production from their drafts than the Jets.
Maybe Matt Millen is secretly running the organization
That hit on A. Peterson looked like McGahee when at Miami
Why did I start Michael Bush over DeAngelo Williams again...?
I picked up Williams just for this game. Williams had not been doing much all year, save for one game. But the Bucs poor run defense and Bush's injury were the reasons I started Bush.
Of course, the Pats have come back to tie it at 17.
I mean, what the hell can I do against that in the playoffs? He scored 22 points, and I lost by 5. What a way to f***ing lose.
MANBALLED that sumofabeech.
Stafford is a 1000 times better than Dirty.
Regardless of his playoff success, will never be a QB I'm comfortable with. At this point, he's a little less than a game manager. I think the Jets need to come to terms with the fact that he can't win them a super bowl.
Who's got a link for the Detroit game? I've got...wait for it..."Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam" here. I mean, I know it's Gravedigger's 30th anniversary tour and everything, but, c'mon son!
And where the hell are you?
I believe the Detroit game is on CBS today because they are playing an AFC team. However, we get the Monster Jam here on CBS. Fox has the Cowboys/Eagles game which I have ZERO interest in.
They could be playing for the lead inside the 5 right now.
Didn't know he got picked up by the Jags.
LOL, Jets fumble snap into endzone, Giants recover for touchback.
Harris gets the pick off a deflection.
That opening play was tremendous. But if this drive doesn't end in a TD I'll be very sad. (But I have Calvin and Stafford in my losers games in fantasy, so I won't be TOO sad.)
Anyone know a site that is showing the Lions game? I cannot find it anywhere
Hi, this is the Lions fans. I know you're busy, it being a religious holiday and all. But, we Lions fans haven't asked for much (and lord knows we've gotten it), but this win would mean a lot to the city of Detroit, and to the state of Michigan. Haven't you given the Packers enough?
Sanchez sacked for a safety! 22-14 Giants.
Man Lions getting a running game going.
CJ that was close. Jump ball for TD that almost was in douyble coverage.
Rivers throws a nice ball.
rushing attack looks anemic
mixing it up pretty good on the play call.
already 139 yds receiving.
Someone's real excited about this Lions game.
First playoffs in 10 years, you betcha.
should have been a catch for CJ. Sucks about the force out rule.
Would have been nice, but he was definitely out of bounds. But it didn't matter anyway. :)
Great effort, but they changed that rule so refs don't have to judge whether a receiver could have come down in bounds or not.
Stafford on fire 16 for 21 and 199 yds.
All these leaping fingertip catches!
Nope, these guys are so close to the playoffs they can taste it.
The Lions are usually incredibly nerve-wracking to watch. They like to keep things exciting and close to the last minute. Including getting really close to blowing huge leads like they have right now. So far it looks like they are actually playing both halves today, but they usually only play one half, either first or second depending on how they feel that day.
So I guess it depends on your definition of fun.
Dang Butler totally untouched!
Chargers on the board. But can they get a stop?
Ok don't let the Chargers back into this thing. TIme to put the foot on the neck and finish these chumps.
Surprise onside kick is a surprise.
No freaking way they get an onside kick!? Shit!
Lions let them convert 3 ande 12! Great.
They can make up for that by stopping this 3rd down.
I say they stop it but it gets to like 4th and inches and they go for it and get it.
Big moment shift killer, way to go Houston!
We need some Stafford magic.
Nice job Nate.
Now that just looked too easy.
Good job of answering back by the Lions.
Hopefully you can get RGIII.
Yes, and I will only trade him for cash monies. MWA HA HA HA HAAAAA!!!
lost to the dangon Vikings today.
Hopefully we will be bad enough to be in a position to draft RGIII
15 more minutes and Megatron, Stafford and crew get to experience the playoffs.
Who has the prettiest arm punt...Rivers or TPryor?
Great defensive stand, there.
Don't get too excited yet. You never know when they will throw it all away.
who threw it away.
Iggles romping 20-0 in Dallas. WTF?
Is this the dagger? Nice pick
Ha, Houston ripped it away from the safety.
make fingertip catches!
If the game wasn't over already it definately is now. WTG Lions playoff bound in 2011!
With a win like this against a streaking Charger team I'm sure there will be some teams out there a little worried about facing the Lions in the playoffs.
Sure would be nice to surprise the Packers at Lameau next like they did last year.
They looked damn good today
