Submitted by ohioblueblood82 on

At 10 PM Monday night, Gainesville (GA) ATH and top Michigan target Chris Williamson will make his announcement live on FOX Sports South.

Crystal balls have been wrong before so what the hell lets win this one.

So I'm going to stay up to see...just because of the #AMAIZING tweets.

But I never thought we'd get Arnette OR Williamson so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I said on Friday, I'm riding on going 6 for 6 with the names below...

  1. Weber
  2. Jefferson
  3. Clark
  4. Wheatley
  5. Smith
  6. Adams

...and I added a 7th in the kid from Cass Tech who I think we may offer as a FB for Weber.

I don't feel confident on Smith at all, but we'll see. Those are the only names I'm really looking at right now. Even though it looks like I should be focusing on this former Northwestern WR as well.

given staff turnover at florida and the whole picture, this is prob michigans best shot at an elite athlete this class.  hopefully harbaugh sold the dream, kid could be a real playmaker

...without actually negative recruiting.

All you have to say when asked about your experience. "Ehh, tough year...(insert wife) never got used to the cold, that's for sure." Wife: "It was FREEZING!" (laughter) "yeeaaa, you never really get used to it."

Just little conversations like that. Or about how we haven't been good in a long time. Or problems within the athletics department.

You can be speaking the truth and easily slip in a few things to make a young kid think.

The root probem in this class was how quickly our program imploded this year.  I was saying throughout October that most coaches who get fired look like they have a chance to stick around at least usually through early November.  Otherwise you would not even bring them back to coach that year.

This season was basically over by week 5.  So instead of having a lame duck coach for 2-3 weeks of the regular season like most teams who will fire their coach ours was essentially lame duck for 7 weeks.  That's a whole extra month of UM essentially not having a recruiting class, not having a coach who could go out and recruit with a straight face about being here next year and it was in the middle of the Shane Morris and David Brandon fiascos.  We looked like a complete f***** dump and I tip my hat to those 6 kids who had the resolve to stick around.  If Hoke looked half competent and looked halfway legit thru early November we would not have had the #1 rated decommit class in the country.  Our class would have been 10-11 kids by the time Harbaugh arrived instead of 6.  Compare to Rich Rod who had 10 kids in a class of 20 despite getting blown off the field vs OSU and Miss State.  He looked like he still had a chance to be around in October and November.  Hoke - not so much.

Combine that with the fact Durkin has not brought in anyone and Drevno has not brought in anyone and every other coach was in the NFL 60 days ago and this is the result.  But all you needed for this small of a class was for Hoke to look competent thru Nov 1 and you'd probably have 10-11 guys in this class when Harbaugh arrived and he just needed to fill a handful of spots.

No, I was saying those things in October when the decommits rolled in and I was already doing CC posts.  The reality is even a coach like Muschamp there was questions of if he would return until early Nov.  So he could go talk to recruits and not look a fool.  Most sober observors saw Hoke was gone and certaintly the kids saw it by the inability to recruit anyone (RR was still getting recruits in November 2010) and the mass losses of players.  Its reality.  If Hoke looked viable that would be 1 less month for other coaches come and steal all our recruits.

...coupled with the fact that our targeted coach wasn't going to be available until late December, during a dead period for recruiting contact. If we'd been able to have Harbaugh on board up and running right after the season was over, the difference would be huge.

It's beyond irritating that OSU was able to hire Meyer when the season was barely over for them, and that he got to recruit while Fickell was coaching the bowl game.

All the moaning and groaning that was done for Harbuagh to come here and we got guys freaking out because he wont sign "top talent" with less than a month to recruit lol. Chill man its going to be okay.

Who would you rather play for? No offense to Florida but they are at our Brady Hoke hire stage. Major rebuilding for next three years, with no Gator alumni support. I went to both schools so I am objective.
