Evans & Higdon provide a great one two punch for us at RB this year.  Evans is so smooth and fun to watch, but he really needs to gain some toughness and be able to lower the helmet this year.  That will be an interesting development to watch.  He seems to have bought in to the Harbaugh toughness mantra.  I remember watching an interview where he proclaimed "I needed that hit" against Illinois.. the one that may have concussed him.  The way he bounces runs outside and really the way he runs reminds me of Ezekiel Elliot, without the toughness and head sparring.

Hoping Evans kills it in 2017.  Really like the kid.

This will make for a great meme. Feels like everytime his name is brought up here that it is misspelled. Ruddock started as a mispell and eventually became a nickname for early season Rudock. Beilein vs. a variation is about 80/20. Issac vs. Isaac is 20/80. Sad!

Four or five headed monster if you include Walker and Samuels. Nice stable of backs. Can't wait for them to get started. I know of another back we definetly want and that is Noah Cain, cool name and one hell of a running back. Underwood I believe is like big brother to him so hopefully he can get him in with the right team (Wolverines). Got off subject a bit but I think Evans, Isaac and higdon will all have big years and maybe even Walker. Don't know how they work Samuels in or maybe redshirt I don't know.

Really like how he hits the hole. I think he'll break a few more tackles this year (if he doesn't have the time to juke).

is that he makes his cuts with a lot of anticipation. He cuts before the defender is expecting a player to be juking (with that devastating dead leg mostly), which is how he gets defenders to bite SO hard. He's fun.

...compared well to Tony Boles. Hadn't thought of Powers.

Boles was a great running back from Westland who blew his knee out late in his junior year. I believe it was an ACL which means with todays technology he would have recovered completely. But he didn't. Failed to make the NFL as an 11th round pick, though he would have likely been a first round pick if he didn't get hurt. Sadly his life decended into drugs and crime.

Powers had a short NFL career and returned to his hometown of Akron where he has been a teacher and football coach of great stature.

So smooth. Bo planned on moving him to receiver after he hurt his knee, but he ended up flunking out. Then he stole Emmitt Smith's car during the Cowboys' training camp. Downward spiral that continued until he hit rock-bottom, at which point he started to dig...farther down. Sad.

At one time Michigan had Tony Boles, Leroy Hoard and Jarrod Bunch all on the same team. I still can't believe we didn't win a national championship with any of those teams back in the 80's. We had future NFL players everywhere.

Easily to remember. Hoard was the first to leave (graduate?) and Bunch graduated '89. Drafted by the Giants and played a few years I think. He scored the clinching TD against Ohio State in '89. Good guys win 28-18. Numbet 33. I'm also old enough to remember Ron Johnson, rb, "touchdown Taylor", and even QB Bob Timberlake.#18. Ok, just showing off now, sorry. I am "not young".:)

Ricky Powers: Fr: 748 yds, 5.2 avg, 4 TD's So: 1197 yds, 5.0 avg, 9 TD's Chris Evans: Fr: 614 yds, 7.0 avg, 4 He's So: What do you think is a logical projection for Evans? I think he will be in the range of 1000-1100, with an average near 6-6.5 (I know- safe and boring prediction). I think he'll be used as a weapon in the passing game(6 rec for 90 yds) more and surpass Powers(15/90) in total yards. Defenses will key in on him more and he will get the starters hook against the cupcakes to limit his totals. He's such a versatile weapon- I see him filling the role of decoy vacated by Peppers. He'll have a huge impact on plays without racking up huge yardage totals himself.

Watching him his freshman year I thought this kid is a future star. Sophomore year, not so much, then he just fell by the wayside. Injury related? I don't recall.

Ricky Powers was a hard nosed power runner. A good runner for sure but nowhere near the feat, quickness and vision of Evans. Maybe Gordon Bell. Evans is going to break plenty of tackles as he matures. The kid has it just let him grow up a bit.
