i dont want a confernce bigger then 12 teams ... i wanted to add either texas or nd .... or stay put though i admit nebraska is my 3rd favorite option if we are adding

i have no problem satying at 11 and alwways getting 2 bcs teams each yr cause our 2 best teams dont beat each other up in a championship game

i know money wise it makes since ... but it knda destroys the idea of a conference if you go above 12 in my humble opinon

Where did this love for the 16 team conference come from? The only other time it was tried it failed, miserably. Yes there were other issues at play there but the point remains the same. It didn't work. Do we really want a "conference" where we see some of the teams twice a decade? I like the look of the new 12 team conference, i wouldn't be completely opposed to a 14 member but I would rather let someone else go to 16 teams first and have it work for them before the Big Ten becomes the nation's test dummies.

My freaking head is about to explode over all of this stuff.  Too much excitement, man, too much excitement.  I can't look away, though.  This whole situation reminds me of a Homer Simpson quote:

"Forty seconds?  But I want it now..."

Regardless, the wife and I were laughing that, in all of this excitement, it is still going to be about two years until this all goes down.  Don't forget there's still a 2010 football season ahead of us!

BTW, they are pulling out flight tracker on the Big Ten rumor...

Private flight from Chicago to Austin early this morning.  Means nothing but additional fuel to the fire, but still....

Does anybody else feel that Texas is like that high maintenance fake blonde with the big implants who’s real popular at the moment? Looks great now, but will you feel the same in two or three years???

I thought Texas was the center of the problem with the Big 12. (Or maybe Nebraska and Mizzou are big whiner's who are mad Oklahoma has paid so much attention to Texas since the formation of the Big Twelve.)

Texas is certainly the problem given their current situation. Their athletic department revenues are considerably higher than any of the other Big 12 teams(#1 Texas - $138 million. #2 OU - $81 million). In the Big Ten that won't be much of a problem with 4 other teams in the Big Ten who made more than OU did:

OSU - $119 million,

UM - $95 million,

PSU - $95 million,

Wisky-$89 million

Texas can't bully others around as easily (unequal revenue sharing).

Also, a depressing side note: I thought we were always above $100 million, but missing bowls these past few years has brought us down a bit.

Geography makes no sense for Texas to be in the Big Ten.  Whats next?  The Dallas Cowboys joining the NFC East? HAHAHAHA ....oh wait, nevermind.

Other then the fact that BC is on the Atlantic coast does geography really work for them to be in the ACC?  I think Maryland is the closest team to them.

Look at the Big East in basketball.  You've got UConn and Providence all the way on the far reaches of the east coast and Marquette and Depaul almost halfway across the country.

He's on the Horn right now and says this is a bogus rumor. The SEC is making a major push to get A&M (and they are listening) and even possibly TX.

And it's up....

Just saying that A&M is considering the SEC, which I'm pretty sure made it's way around the interwebs somewhere else earlier today.  But it says Texas is ready for the Pac 16.

Chip Brown will be on www.espnaustin.com  live radio stream shortly... like 1 minute....

EDIT:  He says that the Kansas Report is Bogus.  The "Big News" is the TA&M is wanting to explore joining the SEC and that the SEC has offered to move 2 teams from the SEC West to make room for UT and Texas A&M.  If A&M Waits too long, they're apparently going to be given a ultimatum from the Pac-10.

They now are talking more B12 south crap.. .the only thing I care about is that he says the report from Kansas has no real "facts".

1) What is the Kansas rumor?

2) How can the SEC just bump two teams and who in the hell would the second team be (Miss St is the obvious #1)?

edit: i get now that they would be moved over to East but that would create an 8 team East and 6 team West. which still doesn't make sense...

He says A&M needs time, exploring the SEC. They could be put on the clock soon. SEC has offered A&M and UT spots in SEC West and would move 2 teams from West to East, but UT seems like they want to go to teh Pac 10. He also says A&M and UT haven't had any major talks with the B10.

Check out their football recruits.  Unreal!  They already have 15 4* recruits lined up.

If Texas comes to the Big Ten, the NCAA might not have a choice but to bring on a playoff system.  It'll be almost impossible for teams in the new power conferences to escape undefeated.  This all gets more interesting by the minute.

Texas Junior days has the 95% of the top Texas talent visit. Mack Brown can give out 15 scholarships each weekend and have all of them accepted immediately if that's what he chooses. Normally (last few years of success), Texas has 12-20 4* and 5* recruits locked up in the first few months that they can hand out offers.
