Chill the Hell Out

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

Guys, I know it sucks that we are 5-2, but seriously, everybody just needs to take a deep breath.

No one is getting fired. This is a very good staff that has tried to make it work with some broken pieces this year. How many people here predicted 8-4 before the season? A lot.

Does no one remember how bad things were during the Rodriguez years? Stop calling this the worst you've ever seen.

Seriously, calm the fuck down.

I will concede this: if Chris Balas was right about Brandon Peters (that he's proven to be a massive bust), then we're fucked. Otherwise, relax.

Rabblers gonna rabble. Basically this team is who we thought it was. Lots of young and unpolished talent, a year away from doing big things. Let's sit back and enjoy the ride. The only game that matters at this point is OSU.

a year away?  not with the offense staff.  probably not with these QBs unless Peters has an epiphany.

OSU this year?!  we're gonna get killed.  Weirdly Hoke hung with OSU most years.  He must have spent a lot of extra time on that game.

I hope you're right about being a year away but let's look at this in a realistic way. Next year we play the first game most likely at night at ND against a team who is starting to look pretty good. They have Wimbush who has gotten valuable experience. Tough game to go into with one of the two guys not having any meaningful snaps. Then you have MSU with Lewerke who is looking decent and who has beaten us already. Then there is OSU with Haskins who is getting a lot of snaps because they are up so big.

Tell me again how we're one year away. So if we go out next year and lose those 3 games and Harbaugh is 1-7 against the two main rivals plus a loss to ND, I imagine things will start to feel a little different.

So if you love Harbaugh so much and want him to succeed then I would argue it is vital to start getting a QB ready to make some plays because if you fall to 1-7 against the two main rivals, it would take 3 years undefeated just to get back to .500 and we know that isn't how this usually plays out.

But yeah, we'll be just fine. Don't worry. Next year. Next year. Next year. Blah blah fucking blah.

Maybe a little perspective would help you. We are on our 2nd string QB with basically the youngest team in the nation. No one plays amazingly under those circumstances. Next year we will play some tough teams, sure. That's the case every year. We just have to be - and will be - better. Shit doesn't always work out your way, and we have to deal with that.

We're on the same side here. I want them all to succeed. I'm saying the way to do it may be to get some snaps in for Peters or McCaffrey (whichever will be the guy next season) like the others are doing. They are preparing and we should be as well. If Wilton is to be the guy for one more year then that may change things a bit but I don't think we can count on that. Spinal injuries change your life many times, not just your football life.

Wisconsin and Ohio State lose a lot of pieces every season and just keep rolling.  ND probably loses Josh Adams on offense, but that's about it. And the changes Kelly has made around the program seem to have fixed their issues. So not really too concerned about them losing talent either. All three of those teams should be close to what this season's teams look like.

Here in lies the problem. There is nothing but excuses for Harbaugh when people SHOULD be holding him accountable. The payoff for being one of the highest paid coaches in the game, with THE highest paid staff, is the need for actual wins on the field. Not just hype in the media, or hype in recruiting. Actual results. I was guilty of it too. We all anointed him the messiah, and it seems to have been premature. What's scarier, is that if Harbaugh can't get them over the hump, who in the hell can? I see 4 or 5 losses this year, and at least 3 next year. Heads are gonna roll, and Harbaugh will Harbaugh his way outta town. Hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see it

Balas is a joke.

Sam Webb posted about how Peters is progressing and just needed more time. You can have a ton of arm talent and not be ready to run a complex pro offense.

I agree , people need to chill. Penn State was in a very similar position last year after this game. Things can change fast in college football...

I fully expect an 8-2 Michigan team with tons of momentum to head into the final two games vs top 5 teams.

My dream. OSU beats PSU and we beat OSU... this puts a two loss OSU in the big ten title game and likely leaves both out of the CFP.

B1G Winning

Franklin won a B1G championship in year 3 after being obliterated by sanctions. Harbaugh lost at home to a MSU team coming off a 3-9 season that has almost as much youth as Michigan and was held scoreless in 3 quarters of the PSU trouncing. This team has yet to play OSU yet. Next year they play @ND, @OSU, and @MSU while also playing Wisconsin and Penn State at home. What part of that is "fine"?

First of all you can't predict what's going to happen next year as you bring up their schedule, secondly obviously last night was Not Fine. Everyone is more angry now than when they were a bad program. Like deep down some of you want them to be a bad program so you don't have expectations so you won't be mad.
