So, I'm heading to the "Sports-O-Rama" tomorrow in Chicago with Hoke & Beilein. I doubt there will be any opportunity (or need) to ask any questions. Still, if you have any questions to suggest, and should there be opportunity, I'll ask them. So feel free to give me your questions. Oh, and if those of you who have gone to these things have any pertinent advice, please let me know.
Chicago Sports-O-Rama with Hoke & Beilein
With the large haul of Ohio players recently is Michigan making a more concetrated attempt to recruit more nationally this year?
What's your favorite desert?
Would you ever consider reserving special jersey numbers for Michigan's best players/ leaders? Like the #1, #21 jerseys in football?
Favorite Maize and Blue Deli sandwich?
Why would you ask Hoke what his favorite desert is?
I've been thinking of changing my avatar to his favorite desert.
LOL meant 'deSSert!'
the Sahara ?
Aren't there some boiler-plate MGoQuestions that you're required to ask as a member of this boad?
- Why don't you use the spread punt???
- Can you get Borges to understand why the bubble screen is so effective???
- Given your defensive woes last year, why can't you run some zone???
- What position will GR3 and McGary play next year???
In all seriousness, here's a potential question for you:
- Headed into fall practices, what role or position on the team is the least defined and what expectations do you have for the players competing for that role/position?
Do you have to be an alum to go to this?
Well after a little research I see that you do not have to be an alum. If anyone has seen this before is it worth 55 dollars to go to this?
But it goes to the Chicago Alumni Association, which runs events and does scholarships for local kids. Coaches are there, etc. Appetizers are included. There is a cash bar.
It is definitely worth it, as food is included in the price and there aren't many opportunities to hear the coaches speak off the cuff. Even if you aren't an alumni you are still surrounded by Michigan fans.
I attended had ample time for Q & A after the coaches spoke. Dave Brandon fielded most of the questions, so address any sport-specific inquiries to the coach himself. You can also take a picture/ask a question prior to the presentation. Just be very aware when they arrive and jump in line quick. Each coach had an informal group waiting around them and interestingly, I'd say Red was the most popular, or maybe he just took more time to speak substantively with each person.
Can I please get a picture taken of you double pointing at me?
I will be there as well and excited for it per usual. To your surprise... Q&A is rather long and Brandon plays MC and kind of PCs stuff. That said, most coaches answer the questions presented to them and answers are better than a typical press conference since almost any question gets at least some answer.
Ask Beilein about recruiting the state of Michigan. Or more specifically, why he doesn't seem to go after many local guys. He has signed waaaay more dude from Indiana and Ohio. Is that a conscious decision? Or is Michigan just that lacking in D1 prospects?
Will there be videos posted of the speeches? I love listening to both Coach Hoke and Beilein speak all the time.
