Charlie Weis's Rascal Ride

UConn just beat ND, and the NBC announcers seriously said that it was the biggest win in the program's history.

Anyways, is Weis going to ride his Rascal into the sunset or not. Seriously, he has to ride a Rascal around campus when the cameras are off, right?

I'm inclined to buy Orson Swindle's argument that they are flat broke--but Weis seems to know he's gone looking at him standing there.

UConn looks like a solid team, but I'm already pumped for next season.

It's all John Navarre's fault.

I was torn watching this game because I never root for the Irish (except against Sparty), and yet the announcers kept intimating that he'd be gone with a loss. Well, they lost. And I think he's gone. And I think we all agree, whomever replaces him will be an improvement, which is bad news for us - maybe not short term, but over the long haul.

And, to top it all off, those UConn RBs looked awesome. That's trouble for us as well (unless they're seniors) because we play them to start off 2010.

He's marked as having redshirted on UConn's depth-chart here:

UConn's monster LT (6'8", 316) and RT (6'6", 323) are also shown as having redshirted.

We're in for a tough contest if UConn returns those guys as fifth-year seniors.

ND actually should be a little down next year. I think Golden Tate and Jimmah will be gone in addition to there entire line.

Howeva, ND falling into irrelevance would benefit Michigan in recruiting regionally--which means I vote for Jay Paterno.

It's all John Navarre's fault.

I have to say I like Weis, who doesn't? I loved how NBC showed his press conference from when he got hired. Good stuff. I really hope that Charlie's buyout is too big and they have to keep him. Also, I am glad Dixon is a Senior for UCONN. He played really well. Glad we don't have to see him next year.

is there any chance that some of their players transfer or commitments start looking elsewhere? Perhaps another school with a great history in college football? Especially highly rated defensive-type recruits/players? I know they wouldn't help next year and it's mostly wishful thinking.... but count me as wishful. I don't pay much attention to other schools. Is there always as much attrition as Michigan had the past few years?

I have (slightly shaken) confidence that once RR gets rolling the team will be good enough to beat ND no matter who's coaching. Unless it's the pope... He seems to have a lot of connections.

I was posting this as the game ended. Right at the end, the announcers said that--it's pretty arrogant to say that a school's best win in history is against a 6-5 team.

Edsall meant that it was a great game because of the murdered teammate.
