Charles is one of 3 (now 2 I guess)

Submitted by JJB2 on

Our beloved Mr. Woodson is now one of only 3 players to possess all of the following:

1. Heisman

2. National Championship

3. Super Bowl  Ring

Can you guess the other 2.  Hint:  One fell out of the category recently.

Que Jeopardy music.......

Answer:

Alex, who is Tony Dorsett and Reggie Bush (who technically lost his heisman)

Congrats Charles.

Charles had one thing the others didn't, a broken collarbone during the SB.

My friend and I were just talking about this last night. Charles Woodson will always be in a class of his own because of his Heisman as a defensive player. However, he has no shot at MVP in the league. That always goes to a QB or maybe a RB if they played out of their mind that year. Woodson would basically have to have a pick, sack, and forced fumble in every game, which some of those going for 6 to even be considered for league MVP. He could get Super Bowl MVP if the Packers go next year and he has a great game.

And Thanks for the research. Personally i still view the Heisman as a pageant and not comparable to team awards. You dont have to go that far down the list to understand that Jason White and Eric Crouch hardly had a chance at the NFL let alone  being eligible to win a Super Bowl. So, as I shuffle past Danny Wuerffel I find this troika to be flimsy, at best.

Woodson also won Mr. Football in Ohio, so here's a more expanded accomplishment list:

-State POY in high school

-Heisman Trophy

-National champion

-NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

-NFL Defensive POY

-Super Bowl champion

Can Dorsett/Bush/Allen match this?
