Charity Question: Mich vs MSU hockey at the joe

Submitted by BOGEY on
Hey guys. I've been a member of the board for a while now but don't post super often. I have a suite at the joe and was looking to fill it for the UM MSU hockey game. BUT I'd like to fill it with some underprivileged kids that wouldn't get the chance to go to a event like this. Does mgoblog have a charity or someone that could help me with this?

to your title just in the hope of getting more clicks and suggestions.

I do know there's someone you can call at Mott, but I don't know who or what their contact info is.

I wish I could remember the name of the organization that John Vitale used to work with. I'd give them tickets to events when I worked at the Palace. It's been a long time and I just can't recall.

Also, you could look into Billy Taylor's Get Back Up organization in Detroit.

We work with several organizations at work, but our group's task force has done a number of things through Variety Detroit and the Children's Charities Coalition (part of which is CARE House of Oakland County). Actually, last month, a group downtown sent several kids to the Pistons-Pacers game at the Palace, which was awesome and an early Christmas gift for about 20 kids.

St. Louis Center just west of AA is a great charity that Coach Beilein and his wife are regular supporters of.  St. Louis Center partners with UM on many small charity projects.  I used to work at the center and brought kids to UM often for events.

SLC is a home for physically/mentally/emotionally disabled youth and adults males.  Many are very severe.  Some are placed privated by their families while others are wards of the state.  It is a really amazing place filled with workers who basically live their lives in service of others, and with residents who, when you peal back the layers of disabilities that have shuned them from others and from experiences that most of us consider to be the most important experiences in life, are good kids / adults with real life issues no different than anyone else.

A quick google search would give you their contact info.

Well done!  Thanks for doing this for whatever charity you choose.

Tried to contact these charities so if I don't get any reply back would some mgobloggers like to go.. I have about 10 tickets.. Tickets would be free you would just have to pay for parking/food/drinks... Really lookin to hook up some people who don't normally get to go to games and that may have kids ect
