Character of our Early Enrollees

Submitted by BlueintheBlood on

I'm felt it was worth a post to comment on the great character that our Early Enrollee's all seem to have. Being privy to their interviews through rivals, I have to say that I am very, very impressed with the way they carry themselves. It is nice to see spotlight (teenage) football players actually be humble for once. Just another reason why UofM football is the best!

Curious on anyone else's reactions to this topic or any other reactions towards our EEs?

I had never listened to Ricardo Miller speak before, but I was absolutely blown away by how eloquent and well-spoken the kid was. Schools everywhere need kids like Ricardo, and I'm damn glad we have him.

Im from Wisconsin, Im a HUGE michigan fan. But I have a cuzin from michigan shes a jr in hs she went to school with Austin White. And from what ive heard he isnt the greatest character kid. Ive been told from her and my uncle that hes a kid that thinks hes the man and he doesnt have to work for anything. Im hoping he really gets put in his place with competition at UM and sees that hes no longer the big fish in a small pond!

Who negs someone who's simply sharing what they've heard??? We don't personally "know" any of these recruits and all we have to go by is information like shoelaceessrob... was trying to share. Yes, I know it was a double post but that doesn't justify negging the shit out of them. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Because this place has turned into a joke. If you're not saying something positive about a player or making excuses for them then, UH OH, you get negged. In the eyes of the people here Michigan can do no wrong. Objective doesn't exist in this place.

I didn't neg shoelacelessrob... but I think his comments are inappropriate. This is a public forum and you should be careful about what you say about a kid.

It is one thing to be sitting around with your boys and ripping on someone but quite another to do so in a public medium. You have to know where you are, what we put in print here can be and is read all over the world.

One reason people are so angry with Drew Sharp is because he used a public platform to slander a teenager, the same sort of thing happens here, and whenever I see it I cringe. Drew Sharp at least makes himself known.

I have seen posters on this blog rip into people or groups with unnecessary and over the top criticism. These same posters will whine and chastise fellow posters for "resorting to name calling".

Thanks for the reply. Isn't the internet as a whole a "public forum"? You could use RCMB as an example. Most of the stuff on there isn't really flattering to read. This blog is in no way the face of Michigan athletics as far as the University is concerned. That is why I think what is said here shouldn't be viewed in such a "PC" manner.

Before the point system people seemed to post what they really thought as opposed to the consensus of the group. No one really seems to post anything negative anymore because of the great power of the neg bang. Does that really seem right?

This is the best place I have found to get information on the big sports that Michigan plays and am really grateful to the people that run it. It provides an important distraction from the real world which is needed quite strongly nowadays.

The only thing that I have a problem with is how anyone with a dissenting opinion is chastised and the more recent problem of troubled players. It wasn't long ago that the majority of Michigan fans bashed other teams for taking chances on high risk players with a criminal background. Now it's completely the opposite. Everyone is a hypocrite. That is just a fact of life but the severity of it as far as that topic is concerned is pretty egregious if you ask me.

Lastly, I find it pretty ridiculous that a one sentence post can garner such high praise (as far as points are concerned) while a well thought out post isn't really given the recognition it deserves. There are many posters who just submit one lame joke after the other which is funny at times but becomes tiresome after a while and doesn't really provide any productivity to the discussion. There are women in Hollywood who are called Size Queens. They only go after the biggest dongs. I would compare these women to these posters. I guess you could call them Point Queens. Rant complete.

Your last paragraph applies to everything Michigan State and Ohio State. And FYI, the OP of this string is entirely true. I'll be surprised if White is on this team in 3 years. In almost every scrimmage or passing league I've ever seen him in, he either tries to start a fight or throws him helmet off and walks away from his coach and team.

Why not? :) I didn't waste any points on it, but the post would look bad even on a cesspool forum like MLive. It looks like the work of a semi-literate w1gg3r. Look at the join date, too. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it was constructed as a jest.

Update: I just noticed that it was posted twice, too. Odds that it's a flame? *Slightly* increased.

I don't think that it is in good taste to slam a kid that is putting in the extra work and effort by being an EE by saying he has no work ethic. I just don't think that it needed to be posted at all. And if they wanted to post something negative about on of our newest Wolverines then they should probably get ready for some criticism and negs.

Dude I've heard WAY more nastier things about Austin White. The sad thing is that both of our cousins are right, and these guy on this board are too fucking proud to accept any of that. I'm a die hard Michigan fan and when I heard about this I definately was disappointed but realized he's going to a great school and he'll have a better lifestyle living in Ann Arbor. I hope he proves us wrong.

If you are a good enough player and student to get a football scholly from UM, graduate early, and enroll early, I am extremely impressed. Even if the early enrollees don't become stars on the field, I would bet they become stars off the field.

I hate to say it only because I think he'll prove himself at Michigan and become a very good player for us, but my cousin also said the same about Austin White. She went to high school with him and I heard he did walk around like he's a pimp and is real nasty to girls. My cousin seriously hates the guy. I was supposed to go to the same high school as both of them but moved away to South Carolina 5 years ago. I came to her cause I was excited we got a player that went to her high school (Austin White). She then told me all these nasty stories and I was pretty disappointed. But Rich Rod and the staff saw something in him so I believe in them. GO BLUE

but if he is he will be put in his place very quickly with this coaching staff, and the upper classmen.

Also, I think it speaks volumes for White that his brothers are troublemakers at State, and he is staying away from that environment and choosing UM.

Any kid that is going to bust his tail a semester early I dont have a huge worry about.

I expect that we will not hear anything about White other than that he is working hard this offseason.

I'm very impressed with Jeremy Gallon's 'make the first 7 tacklers miss' attitude. The fact that he is already the front runner to win the heisman in 2010, 11 and 12 is historic and amazing

Previously being a student athlete and working with student athletes now, I feel I can say that almost all high school athletes with an ounce of skill think they are amazing, because ... well they are (or were). Coming to a big time program as a freshman is a huge wake up call and from what I've heard they all seem pretty humbled being on campus and working with other athletes of similar caliber.

Excited to see what these recruits can do. Go Blue!

i think the best players on most high school teams are a bit "cocky". it kind of goes with the territory. a little cockiness/confidence is a good thing in sports.

re: work ethic - ya, it probably comes easy for the best athletes, so they may not work as hard as they could in HS. but that will change at UM. me thinks RR won't let anyone get away with anything.

You guys are pathetic. All I'm saying is that I was fucking excited about getting Austin White and I KNEW he went to the same high school as my cousin. I went to her to see if she knew him and she said hes a fucking pig. Why the hell are you guys getting so defensive when my cousin knows Austin White personally. I mean he had 2 older brothers that are the same way. I just think it's funny you guys have no idea what the hells going on and you're defending him. I didnt say anything bad about him just that I hope he doesnt act up at Michigan. I just called my cousin and she seriously flipped shit when I told her how you guys are reacting to this. Hahaha sad sad sad. Have fun being stuck up your own asses.

Me- " How is your boyfriend enjoying college so far??
(I like to joke with my cuzin that shes dating austin)

Her- "HAHA umm no idea. he made some statement about life at college and how hes not going to screw up like his bros"

Me- "well rich rod tells me hes a good kid"
Her- "Good kid?! as if. he thought he was the shit, and he was a big partier"
