There is no reason to believe one word coming out of Tate's mouth or his dad's. It is completely in his best interest to say nothing other than "Tate is never transferring".....for multiple reasons I might add.

Maybe he stays, maybe not. But if you or anyone else are counting on him staying becuase of his dad's comments you are nuts.

Can we please stop with this...  I mean it's so speculative at this point and does no good.

For all we know they may not even have a scoop, could have just ran with Tate's "I'm out" comment from yesterday, and deduced that the earliest he'd announce would be tomorrow, then packaged those 2 things together and called it "breaking".

I give TomVH's interview w/ Mr. Forcier 1000 times more weight than this.

So, hopefully this gets locked.  If he transfers, he transfers, and we can talk about it then.  But in the meantime, speculating and stewing about the possibility does no one any good.

Let's celebrate the win and discuss ND.

I really gave minimal weight to Mr. Forcier's interview.   And not to speak for Tom but I also believe Tom may have been giving it minimal weight as well, vis a vis the disclaimers.

Why??   The speed in which Mr. Forcier responded told me that he was understandably attempting some measure of damage control.   I mean, he had to know how bad Tate's actions must have appeared before a national television audience.   And what father would not want to change the narrative?    What father would not want to protect their son?    But really, how likely is it that Mr. Forcier managed to have a heart to heart talk with Tate before giving that interview with Tom?    How likely was it that the option of whether or not to transfer or stick it out was discussed with Tate/his advisors/his brothers/etc etc within the short time that Mr. Forcier put out his statements attempting to quash the transfer rumors?   Not likely.    Not likely that such an in -depth and thorough discussion took place with Tate within that very short, roughly 2 hour time span before giving the interview with Tom.

I believe the real decision about whether to stay or go will come sometime this week.    Possibly even tomorrow.   After Team Forcier has had time to huddle, gather their thoughts and hash this thing out.

That said, I believe that it is not likely that Tate will transfer.   Although the father was clearly attempting to spin the story, one of the things that I gleaned from the father's comments is that the father does not believe  the transfer option to be the panacea that they once thought that it was.   I believe that Mr.Forcier has learned through trial and error to not be so hasty to just pack it in.   And that bodes well for keeping Tate a Wolverine.

All of this said, I don't believe that any decision would have hit the news this fast and in this way.    I don't believe this news story.

I agree.  I hope Tate stays, but everything i've seen has shown that RRod really cares about his players and does a pretty great job trying to develop them as adults as well as students and football players.  Until I get concrete information otherwise, I'm going to assume there is a damn good reason why he didn't play Tate and that Tate is going to be worse off for leaving at this point than if he stayed and wrestled with whatever is going on that we can see.  Best of luck to him and if he chooses to leave, I'd like to thank him for trying his best last year in a tough year.

I think it's pretty legit when a local news station feels comfortable enough to break a story.  This isn't the Detroit Free Press we are talking about here.  WDIV doesn't use the shock and awe approach to gain viewership.  Our local news stations build off reputation.  Just my two cents.

But he is a regular contributor to SFE, while not an employee of WDIV.

I had almost forgotten about Parker's fabricated story on the allegation that Kirk Cousins was in a bar fight in East Lansing, when he was, uh, actually in church with his parents:

"contibution."  i.e., pay-per column, blog post, show, etc.

The shitty thing about the original story, as is shitty with all anonymously-sourced stories, is we don't know who to attribute it to.  A really good question for WDIV right now is who was their source?  And why does that source need anonymity?

People have gotten so used to anonymous sources, that we have completely forgotten that they were supposed to be rare in journalism.  There is supposed to be a reason, and a stated reason at that, as to why a source is given anonymity.

WDIV didn't even making a passing attempt at that in this case.  She did not say, "This is a report, confirmed by two anonymous sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are [team officials who were not authorized to speak]... [friends of Tate Forcier who asked for anonymity]... [University officials who demanded anonymity because they would be in jeopardy of prosecution if they revealed private student information]..." etc.,etc.

This one is really, really weak, by any sensible journalism standards.  It is really hard to think of any good reason for there to be a grant of anonymity in this case.  Which makes the sourcing, and thereby the whole story, totally suspect.

Look, it has been 24 hours.  Even the Freep appears to want to stay away from this story.  The Freep guys are smart; their memories go way back.  All the way back to, say, a couple of weeks ago, when Melanie Collins got her booty in a ringer and had to eat her own Tate-transfer Twitter-rumor.

Wouldn't it be funny as hell, if Tate did this just to f#*& with some of the reporters.  Katrina Hancock, meet Melanie Collins.  And if Rob Parker was involved, so much the better.

I am going to want to hear more about this story when it is confirmed that Tate Forcier is a true 2010 Wolverine.  It should be and willl be a HUGE embarassment to WDIV.

MY certainty about what Tate will do is 0.  My certainty that Sports Final Edition is leading with "breaking" news that Tate is transferring and will announce as early as tomorrow is 100%, which falls short of Tate's Dad.

Jeebus people, just passing along MSM "breaking" news.  I'm not helping the dude pack his bags and driving him to GVSU!
