Changes to ESPN's College GameDay
While recovering from a stroke!
I thought it was incredibly brave and brought a lot of needed attention to stroke awareness, as well as creating a storyline within each Saturday. Comfort be damned
Never mind that he flubbed his comments, provided no insight I couldn't get from the geranium on my deck, and was visibly angry at himself at times because he couldn't communicate.
If that was the point of College Gameday, they should just have the "Lee Corso Malady Chair," pick the disease of choice (crabs, scurvy, melanoma, etc.), and have a weekly "victim" in the chair to grunt, waffle, and don a mascot head each week.
It was courageous of him to try, but it did get incredibly awkward at times. I don't dislike him being there, he just didn't add much content to the commentary.
He wasn't Dick Clark painful to watch bad, but my wife asked me if he was drunk the first time she saw him on GameDay last year (she hadn't heard about the stroke). I really want him to make a full recovery, but it's still uncomfortable to watch him when he's not quite there yet.
For whatever reason, I really like him. He's been a good moderator on CGD for a while now.
Hide ya kids, hide ya wife.
I also enjoy Rece Davis. He is unbiased, level-headed, and talks about the interesting topics of a game that make it exciting.
"2nd and 5. Here he goes again!"
"That's 6."
"They're not going to catch him! Touchdown Michigan!"
This is actually great news. I always wake up around 8 and get ready by 9 and turn on the TV. Then there is not much on Football related until 10. Now I'll have something to watch.
OH-HOW-I-HATE OHIO STATE
Maybe it will be that you will turn on the TV at 8 now instead of 9, because of the ANTICIPATION!

So it's the same unless you have ESPNU or are awake at 9 am on a saturday and not already tailgating.
Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh Erin Andrews...I approve
Nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes...and fuck Ohio.
The BTN must counter with more Charissa Thompson.
Battle of the Blondes. And... go.
"2nd and 5. Here he goes again!"

She's really not even close to being in the same league as Erin. There have been discussions about this before on mgoblog. Once you see her in person or in HD, Charissa is not all that and is only average when compared to many of the coeds in attendance at sporting events.
This is good seeing we have our tailgate in the Crisler lot set up by 7:30a every home game and the only thing we could ever find on the satelite was Sportscenter. Now we can get some college football coverage for an extra hour.
"I figure if I can get two degrees from Ohio State, it might be close to Elliott’s undergraduate degree" - Brock Mealer
partially because he singlehandedly started the bad-single-syllable-team-nicknames-in-hockey fad, including such favorites as the Bolts, 'Nucks, the 'Lanche (yes, he once said it), the 'Yotes, the Canes, the Sens, etc etc ad nauseum.
On the other hand, it looks like Chris Fowler is sliding into a comfier spot in Bristol, so congrats to him for that. He used to have a fantastic CFB column on espn.com before they went to the premium/insider format, and for all I know he still might, but I don't won't pay them just to read it. It must be hard for him to get noticed sitting beside the Ticonderoga-swingin' Corso and Mr. Golden Boy himself.
I hope they keep room for Desmond-- giving him more time was a good move, and not just because he's Desmond "Oh Snap" Howard.
Between the egos of Jesse "I'm pretter than you" Palmer and Craig "I'll sue you" James, there isn't much room left in the booth. Fowler handled it well.
More Desmond!

So it's another hour of Gameday I can ignore in favor of English Premier League on FSC? Give me live sports over yammering about Tebow any day.
This might be the storyline of the season: how can College GameDay continue to milk from the teet of Tebow now that he's in the pros?
The show will expand to three hours with the first hour on ESPNU at 9 am Eastern and the second two hours on ESPN from 10 am - noon Eastern.
In other words, all the crappy stuff, like segments on the Mountain West Conference, will be during that first hour and then the segments of interest will be broadcast during the final two.
...simultaneously cynical and optimistic. I will be cynical and pessimistic and say that this will just increase the amount of crappy pablum they spoon feed their audience.
At least there will be an extra hour for more funny signs to be displayed behind the hosts.

Any word if Corso is coming back? I am actually a fan, but he was hard to watch at some points last year.
Like a blind man at an orgy, I was going to have to feel my way through
