Chances of five-star QB Ricky Town defecting from Bama?

Submitted by Cold War on

#2 QB of 2015 class on Rivals.

Numerous mentions on the possibility in the Bama forum with the Nussmeier defection.

As Long as Saban is the head coach at Alabama, I don't think they're going to stray too far from what they've been. So I wouldn't see a reason for him to decommit unless he was super close with Nussmeier.

Ricky Town isn't going to leave 3x national championship Alabama for a team that bottomed out as 7-6 Buffalo Wild Wing roadkill

Seeing as it was already rumoured Bo Scarborough was looking around and Nussmeier was his lead recruiter at Bama, coud he defect to us? It has to help that he liked us through out the process. I think we have a better shot at him then Towns.

Wilton Speight is on campus and by all reports a model program guy. I think offering Town here would be shabby and not consistent with Hoke's character.

Sorry, that was mean.

But no really...Speight is a 2014 recruit and Towns is a 2015 kid.

Also, Speight has already said he's not afraid of comp in case Borges wanted to offer another QB in HIS class (which Towns is not).

He was rumored to be hired an hour again...how the hell does anyone know how this is going to affect recruits?

Even if a recruit responds, it'll be a snap judgement. Give it a week and then let's see what happens and who says what.

Seriously?  You're worried that our commits might bolt at the thought of playing for a guy like Nussmeier because why?  Are you worried that our offense players might get too tired having to stay on the field for longer than three plays?

I think we're going to be ok here.

With top recruits like Harris, it doesn't matter who the coach is if the offense is a tire fire.  Had Michigan had its third straight year of offensive abortion on the field, then it was super unlikely that Harris would stick out his commitment and come here.  I mean, the dude was wavering after the BW's bowl.  Did you really think he'd make it another year with every top program asking him "you sure you want to play in that offense??"

If Nuss can make the offense purr, then I'm sure he and Harris will become best buds and Harris will stick.

Where was the evidence that he was wavering other than people reading into tweets?  And second, the tweets about Borges are way overblown.  He's clearly bummed about it, but he said nothing about Nussmeier, so he very well could be excited about the hire, as it appears Moe Ways is from his twitter.  Ways also said all commits are solid.

Bama runs the football...Harris should be doing BACKFLIPS!

So should Derrick Green, did you see what his counterpart Derrick Henry did at Bama vs. Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl? True freshman, HUGE, #1 or #2 in his recruiting class along with Green...and also jersey #27.

Green should be VERY happy. Harris as well.

Yeah Harris does not seem to happy about Borges being fired. He's also now retweeting Kentucky stuff. So we'll see what Nuss can do. Harris is the most important member for the 2015 class right now.

Just checked it out and the only Kentucky retweet was someone saying UK's 2015 class would be great with a bunch of guys they're absolutely not going to get.  Justin Hilliard was mentioned as well and he's not even considering them as far as we know.  I see no problem with Harris retweeting it.  Just acknowledging a compliment.  Come down off the ledge.  It is interesting though that Kentucky's fanbase seems to be taking the strategy of just assuming a bunch of 5 stars are locks for them.  Maybe they'll convince the players themselves lol.

There is so much time for the 2015 class. If our offense improves next year, which may happen, we will be fine recruting. I'd like Harris to be a part of the class but he's got to make the decision that's right for him as do we. It isn't about what's best for one player it's about what's best for the program and this hire may be it. Time will tell. Hopefully Nussmeier will work out and Harris comes anyway along with even more talent from the combined efforts of Hoke, Matison, Nussmeier, and other coaches.
