Champaign NFTC - Jake Butt, Jourdan Lewis, Laquon Treadwell

Submitted by RakeFight on

The Nike Illinois NFTC is currently underway.  Campers of interest include 2013 verbal commits TE Jake Butt, and CB Jourdan Lewis, as well as target WR Laquon Treadwell (and former target RB Ty Isaac).

Information, interviews, and videos from these camps tend to trickle out over hours to days... thought I would create a thread for them to be posted.

Some updates can be found here:

Laquon Treadwell beats potential future teammate Jourdan Lewis in 1 on 1s

coaches are raving about WR Laquon Treadwell. He does everything at an elite level as well as being a natural leader.

Ty Isaac and Laquon Treadwell out here living up to their billing. Both standing out among a deep group

2014 Chicago LB Clifton Garret is the truth. Little raw but impressive physical specimen

showed off his cover skills all day at the NFTC in Illinois. Several PBU's, interceptions & lockdown coverage

Michigan CB commit with a leaping interception in the end zone during offense vs defense. Solid man coverage on a go route

Michigan TE commit one of most physically impressive guys at NFTC Illinois. Even Ohio people I've talked with admit he's good

None of our O-linemen are there? That's kinda surprising. Lewis is really hitting the camp circuit hard though. He's looking to prove something.

but it doesn't look like he made it.  David Dawson and LTT both attended the Columbus NFTC so I'm not surprised they are not there.  Chris Fox lives in CO so it may be too expensive to travel to these events, but he is supposedly attending the Rivals 100 5 Star Challenge at the end of the month so it's not like he won't be camping against some of the best at some point this summer.

Sometimes we forget that these are just kids and some are trying to do some extraordinary things.  Trying to graduate early from HS to early enroll while preparing/training for football during your summer break probably stretches a 17 year old pretty thin.

I would much rather have Kyle Bosch, LTT, and possibly Dawson early enroll than attend a bunch of summer camps.  Getting in early with MIchigan S&C would be huge for OL development.

Disappointing to see Jake Butt not get an invite today, but it sounds like he showed well at the camp.  Surprised that no OL got an invite considering highly rated ND commits Steve Elmer and Colin McGovern were there.

Hopefully some of our other commits will get some of the final Opening invites when they go out in the next week or two:

104 players now invited to . Many of the remaining spots to be filled this week.
