Chad Carr Fund
I took a quick look and didn't find this posted, and since people had expressed interest, I thought I'd share that the fund to support Chad Carr can be found at
https://leadersandbest.umich.edu/find/#/give/basket/fund/324553/tributee/Chad%20Carr%20/type/honor
tf
EDIT: Apparently I caused some confusion. For clarification, money donated does not go to the Carr family or to pay for Chad's treatment. Instead, the money is used to fund pediatric brain tumor research.

nor health insurance? I can't comment further due to the no politics thing here.

In JBlaze's defense, OP was pretty vague about what the money was for (and the link didn't really describe it at all either), they just said "fund to support Chad ". That definitely makes it look like it was a fund for his treatment, not for research.

Ummm. What part of my comment even vaguely hinted at the idea that I would have not supported this if it was for treatment? I was merely was saying that the wording of the original post was ambiguous on whether or not it was for treatment or for research. I in no way comented that it wasn't a worthy cause.
And FWIW I donated (albeit not a ton, I'm a grad student, I don't have much to donate) before I knew whether or not it was for treatment or research. So get off your high horse and shut up.

but I find jblaze's comment inappropriate also. Grandparent's health insurance has nothing to do with a grandchild not in their custody. And it doesn't matter if Grandpa is rich. I donated. They may spend the money however they see fit. Get well Chad.

to be the biggest fucking douchebag on the planet?
September 26th, 2014 at 10:25 PM ^
He misunderstood what the fundraiser was for, which is fairly easy to do considering how this was posted and how the link doesn't say its for charity and not for his care. That makes him a douche.

Stop trying to defend him. It was a asshole thing to say even if the money was going for his treatment. Unless a grandparent has custody their insurance covers zero of a grandchilds healthcare.

He is his grandson Lloyds insurance in no way covers his grandson. Is there no limit to the snark and venom? If people want to donate what the hell do you care?

Thanks for sharing this.
I know that I (and others) said that this community would definitely do what it could do, and I think this is a good conduit for that. Done and done and glad to hopefully be of some help to the Carr family and cancer research during this time. #ChadTough

You can buy a #ChadTough bracelet at MDen.
100% of proceeds will go to the #ChadTough fund for research at Mott Hospital.
AKA, you better buy one. No, more than one. They're only $3. I'm gonna buy 4 tomorrow at the game.
The players and coaches will also be wearing them starting tomorrow.

Today he turned 4. Many more birthdays to come.

Thanks for posting this link. It's hard to look at the picture above and not feel tremendously sad. I read that very few kids survive what he has, but I'm hoping he'll get a miracle and pull through it.
I also like how nothing is eaten on that whole table but the donut. Chad's no fool.

Probably not enough for another thread, but Chad is going to be an honorary captain Saturday, including going out for the opening coin toss.

The 4-year-old grandson of University of Michigan coaching legend Lloyd Carr will join the U-M football team on Saturday, Sept. 27, as an honorary captain. He'll take the field for the coin toss before the team squares off against Minnesota Golden Gophers at 3:30 p.m.

Try tying in some BS rumor about one of the Harbaughs, THEN it will be worthy of a new thread. "Does Chad Carr's illness make the Harbaughs more likely to coach Michigan?"
EDIT: Yeah, probably not the place to complain about Harbaugh rumor threads.

Hey guys, not looking for sympathy, just thought this was an appropriate place to share...
There are a lot of worthy causes to donate to at Mott, including Chad's. And a lot of wonderful kids, including my own 15 month old daughter who is going through cancer treatment at Mott's:
https://www.facebook.com/prayforhannahmarie
and we met some other really really great kids, some even with some U-M football ties:
https://www.facebook.com/Prayingforemma
I can say that there are very wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff at Mott's and they do wonderful work. If you are looking to donate money or time to pediatric cancer, they are doing a new Block Out Cancer campaign at Mott's:
http://www.mottchildren.org/blockoutcancer
If you're inclined, donate time or money, give facebook likes, swing by a caringbridge page, it makes a difference to the families that are going through this.
As an aside, Lloyd Carr's efforts to get the new Mott's built were absolutely heroic, and he derserves all the praise he doesn't get for it.

He spoke last evening, from the heart, at the memorial service for Jim Schneider, an SID guy for over 30 years for UM, and apologized for having to leave early for a 4 year old grandson's birthday party.
He did not mention anything about Chad's situation.
He followed through on his commitment to the Schneider family,
As a person, he is someone to be emulated, and admired, and should not be the target of cheap, ludicrous, shots.
What grandparent has health insurance that covers grandchildren.
