Top 4
Clemson
Alabama
Ohio state
Notre dame
Oklahoma state
Iowa
November 17th, 2015 at 3:49 PM ^
I would never allow a team to be in the NC top four if they do not have a conference championship game....never.
November 17th, 2015 at 5:41 PM ^
Agreed. Who cares if they are the best team in the country, they shouldn't even be eligible to be ranked without a ccg.
And there should only be one team allowed per conference. Yeah, it's possible to have 2 of the top 4 teams from the same conference, but I prefer not to have logic apply when it comes to the playoff rankings.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:04 PM ^
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
5. Oklahoma
6. Iowa
7. Oklahoma State
8. Florida
9. Michigan State
10. Baylor
11. North Carolina
12. Michigan
13. FSU
14. TCU
15. Stanford

I forgot about UNC...GOOD CALL.

That would be a 12 pt improvement for NC based on a win over sad sack Miami. They were 23 last week.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:22 PM ^
in the AP as did Houston. That about was kind of my best case scenario. I am kind of fearing this:
9. Michigan State
10. Baylor
11. Carolina
12. Houston
13. TCU
14. Stanford
15. Florida State
16. Utah
17. Michigan
November 17th, 2015 at 2:31 PM ^
The AP is not the playoff committee.
Their best win is Pitt. Their 2nd best win is Miami. Duke is the 3rd best win. I dont see another >.500 team they beat. They lost to an awful South Carolina. Their SOS is #73.
I have them jumping up 10 myself but mostly due to a lot of teams racking up a 2nd loss (Stanford Utah LSU)
Houston SOS is #103.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:34 PM ^
has UNC 11, one spot behind UM.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:38 PM ^
I mean, not to be a downer, but who is our 3rd best win? Chances are it is not as good as Duke.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:53 PM ^
Assuming that our third best win is either Indiana or Minnesota (depending on which you think is better), I would argue that both are better than Duke. Plus, Michigan beat Northwestern 38-0. Northwestern beat Duke 19-10.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:56 PM ^
I like it.
November 17th, 2015 at 3:04 PM ^
66-31????
November 17th, 2015 at 4:10 PM ^
we'd finish up with wins over Sagarin #39 PSU, CFP #3 OSU, and CFP #5 Iowa. Should NC win out, they'd finish w/ wins over Sagarin #43 VaTech, Sagarin #47 NCState, and CFP #1 Clemson.
I think our ending resume in the only scenario we're going to the CFP would be better than North Carolina's.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:38 PM ^
on a 12-game winning streak w/an ACC championship and a win over the #1 team will get in...and if ND only has one loss, in that scenario, NC would deserve t bid over a one loss Oklahoma
November 17th, 2015 at 3:01 PM ^
UM has only beaten 2 teams with a record > .500 - BYU and Northwestern.
November 17th, 2015 at 3:36 PM ^
with your 'facts' and your 'logic'
November 17th, 2015 at 4:19 PM ^
We also didnt lose to a team that is currently 3-7.
We also have a win over a ranked team....by 38 pts. They havent beaten a ranked team.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:38 PM ^
are you saying Northwestern is a good team now? Because on your last Opponent Stock Watch you said you thought they were a bit fradulent.
November 17th, 2015 at 3:26 PM ^
They have played two (TWO!) FCS teams. The North Carolina A&T Aggies and DelawareBlue Hens. Their SOS is turrible, turrible I tell ya.
November 17th, 2015 at 3:38 PM ^
are sos determined prior to the season or do they evolve as the season progresses? because I can't imagine Houston being #103 when they have to play Memphis, Louisville, and Navy
November 17th, 2015 at 4:17 PM ^
Sagarin #205 Tennessee Tech and Sagarin #161 Texas State. That's Baby Seal U territory.
November 17th, 2015 at 4:28 PM ^
They evolve. Our SOS will improve next 2 weeks (currently 56)
As for that schedule you note, Louisville is 6-4. Memphis has played 2 p5 teams. Navy has played 1 P5 team.
Guys these are MAC level schedules. CMU SOS is 72 i.e. 30 spots better than Houston. Western's is tougher, so is Bowling Green's. If Toledo had been undefeated it would equivalent to what Houston is doing - would people be calling for 10-0 Toledo over UM? (Toledo SOS is 98) With best opponents being Louisville, Cincy, and Memphis. Not saying its not a good team but this is back to the early days of Boise State when they only had to get up for 2-3 games on their schedule every year.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:28 PM ^
We're not gonna drop 3 spots after a win, considering all the teams ahead of us that lost
November 17th, 2015 at 2:33 PM ^
Don't see this happening due to the committee viewing who you lost to as a factor imo. TCU barely beat a winless team. Utah and fsu lost to 5 loss teams. Stanford doesn't have the better resume. I see M at 13 at the worst.
November 17th, 2015 at 3:57 PM ^
Stanford's schedule overall is better than ours. However they will be behind us because we stomped NW and they lost to them opening week

Recall that 2008 Toledo was ranked #134 by Sagarin.
November 17th, 2015 at 5:12 PM ^
Precisely why I think that Toledo loss in 2008 was worse than Appy State the year prior. Yes, the whole #5 FBS drops to an FCS program sent shockwaves through the CFB world, BUT, that was a damn good Appalachian State team.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:22 PM ^
they jump 12 spots but I'm guessing they're going to take a pretty good size jump.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:23 PM ^
UNC won't jump Michigan. And they shouldn't. Their schedule is a joke.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:44 PM ^
UNC is not that good. They are just trying to hype up the sad sack ACC champ game between Clemson and NC in a few weeks.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:00 PM ^
1. Michigan (cause they're #1 in my heart)
2. Nebraska (they made MSU sad)
3. Bowling Green (more Big Ten wins then purdue, indiana, maryland)
4. Creighton University (haven't lost a game since, like, 1941).

If you're going to include Creighton, then you have to include Kettering. They haven't lost since 1919.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:10 PM ^
Kettering is #6 for me. It seems like they haven't had solid QB play in almost a century, and QB is important. #6 seems right

Aren't you the middle school kid? Top notch posting today.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:01 PM ^
My guess is that Michigan will be #12. After we win next week #10. After we beat OSU we will be #6. After we beat Iowa #4.
We goin' dancing!

November 17th, 2015 at 2:07 PM ^
I agree with your top 6 with Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan St, and then MICHIGAN completing the Top-10. TCU and Baylor at 11 & 12. A one loss TCU team fell below Michigan last week and I expect Baylor to do the same this week.

What Indiana did to our defense will turn some heads. A lot of why we are ranked so high is due to us shutting out 3 straight opponents. Questions about our defense will change that.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:11 PM ^
think so my man. We really picked a bad week to have arguably our worst game of the season. I think we could have gotten at least as high as 10 but as it is I am just hoping that Stanford, Florida State, Houston et. al. do not jump us. For whatever reason we seem to have offended a good deal of people in our win on Saturday. I mean, I get it, we did not play great but people seem to be coming down particularly hard on us.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:16 PM ^
Not sure why either.
I had about a half dozen Buckeye fans ask me "man, what happened to your Wolverines Saturday?" I just replied "the same thing that happened to Ohio State, but only with a backup QB and a backup RB."
November 17th, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
Stanford would technically be staying ahead of us, not jumping us, but I really don't see that happening. Zero chance of fsu jumping us.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:12 PM ^
I think they come out at 9:30 today.
Also I think Michigan will be ranked 10th or 11th. Based on all the teams losing, it should help us but unfortunately it went to 2 OT with IU
November 17th, 2015 at 2:28 PM ^
9:30?
November 17th, 2015 at 2:29 PM ^
Never mind. You are right. College basketball games tonight.
November 17th, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
Yeah they come out "9:30" or when the Duke/UK bball game is complete. Great way for ESPN to get a bunch of football fans to tune into the end of an early season basketball matchup.
