No hate. Game will be tough. We'll pull it out. We will win this one for the Mealer family.

Now, the following week.......talk about flow of hate....

A lot more defensive players in their top 10 players than I would have thought. I don't know much about UCONN, just that I always hear their D is horrid. Maybe not?

I actually like U Conn. I just find it unfortunate that Michigan is playing them because I want Michigan to destroy everyone they play. They are a good team and it is certainly an interesting match up It just can't get here fast enough.

They only had good rushing numbers because teams were too busy throwing on them. It's the opposite of the EMU effect.

They did have some good DL, but their top 2 sack leaders graduated. It's not like UConn attracts monster recruits.

Here are some of the offenses they "stopped" last year: Ohio, North Carolina, Baylor, Louisville, Rutgers, Sryacuse, South Florida, South Carolina. Those teams averaged 330 yards per game on the year. That's really poor.

The other teams they faced (PItt, WVU, Cinci, ND) kicked their defense's ass, averaging 509 yards of offense against UConn. Cinci put up 711 yards on the Huskies. For reference Michigan put up 726 yards against Delaware St.

This is a game Michigan should win.

False. They faced a below-average number of attempts, true. However, they had an excellent 3.77 yards per carry (ok, maybe "good" moreso than excellent - it was 46th in the nation, to their #45 net rushing ranking).

I would say the "quality of competition" factor is a better card to play when trying to rag on their defense.

I hadn't considered Yds/Att. I still think, though, they're hiding behind the fact that they were playing weak offenses in general or passing offenses (Cinci). Deion Lewis (+1.1) and Noel Devine (+1.6) both rushed for more YPA than their average YPA against UConn.

They'd get crushed in any other BCS Conference. I fully expect the Michigan offense to go over 450 yards on them.

made their splash last season beating ND in South Bend but that should not cause us unnecessary fear. I am sure our coaching staff will have UCONN well scouted and have a game plan installed that will lead to success. I look forward to a collective MGOBLOG celebration at a site to be determined that afternoon after a big Michigan victory.

should be saved for after the following weekend after we trounce Notre Dame. I generally don't compare what a team does against another as comparison but UConn beat them at home and we play them the following week ,and the fact that Tate and company lost there two years ago and UConn went in there and beat them should count for something.  Go Blue!

"and the fact that Tate and company lost there two years ago"

That is not a fact.  Tate has never played at Notre Dame.  This is a much different team than 2 years ago.  In fact Threet and Sheridan led our offense to outgain ND 388 to 260 yards, but our turnovers did us in.

may not be that good against the run but they article did allude to a fast athletic line.  I did n't realize UConn was 15 points away from an undefeated season.  16 off and def starters returning seems like they will be a significant challenge for Michigan.
