CFL on NFL Network

Submitted by Sambojangles on

So NFL Network is showing Canadian Football games now (according to the commercial, because it's football, and football is awesome). I'm watching because I have nothing better to do, and it's hit me that we would be an awesome CFL team.

  • You only get 3 downs, so our defense would have one less chance to screw up.
  • Wider/longer field=more room for spread offense to be awesome (although mitigated somewhat by 12 players per team on the field)
  • Backfield players can be in motion before the snap, so our receivers can get a running start downfield.
  • A missed field goal downed in the end zone gets a single point, which is good for us

Obviously that was a joke, but it is still interesting to watch this game that is recognizable, but still quite foreign.

Last Saturday around 1 in the morning i found myself watching the UFL on Versus. It was Daunte Culpepper Quarterbacking one of the squads and One of the McCowns for the other.  Jeff Garcia also plays in the UFL and Dee Dee Dorsey (lions dropped him) was on one of the squads. It was actually not unwatchable.
